Today we welcomed Walter, a Pentair Prowler 930W delivered by the fine folks at Marina Pool & Spa. Walter replaced a 3-ish year old Pentair Racer that never really got the job done. Walter is finishing his initial run through the pool, which has raised these questions:
  1. Does running Walter eliminate the need to brush the pool manually?
  2. We have a 7' x 7' square water level spa.....could I drop Walter in to clean the spa too?
  3. Steps....we have three steps to a small sun shelf....should we expect Walter to climb and clean those?
thanks for your input!

From your avatar i was excited to come read about the fish named Walter. Not gonna lie, pretty disapponted here. :(

1. Pretty much. Give it a full brushing now and again just because tho
2. You can, but it wont do well. Ledges and corners are not robot strengths.

3. Sun shelf or the 1st and maybe 2nd steps are no go's. Brush them (along with any corners) to a spot that will be easy to be hit. It only takes 2 minutes to get the areas it will miss.

Thanks for the reply....I've been trying to convince the Mrs. to let me stock the pool with some rainbow trout, but she won't go for it! :laughblue:

Today I successfully started Walter remotely (from my office) using the Pentair Home app on my phone. I had not initially intended to get the "fancy" robot, but given the supply chain constraints, it's what Marina had in stock, so I got it. Now I'm glad I did, because it will help me to be able to run it when out of town (I can monitor via a Ring camera).

Aside from the obvious not being able to empty the debris from the robot, is there any danger to Walter in leaving him in the pool for a week or so? Has anyone had any bad issues if you've left it for vacation for a while?
thanks for any input....
