Ph after water softener First readings

If the CYA is what it says the FC is way too low.
Agree. I’m doing RO to take control of this pool. The numbers noted above are my “before” numbers. So if all goes well, my “after” numbers will help me to start “from scratch”

Hey Kul …….. ‘member like 6 or 7 weeks ago when you were all ‘OH NO…. I Can’t!!!’ ‘ It’s too hard !!!’ ‘I’m no scientist’. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🙋‍♀️

😁

Well, LOOK at you GO !!!! (y)

Sure there is always tons more to learn….. but we can easily fill in the simple blanks as you have a great grip on the basics. Bravo.

Has anyone tried this water softener hose attachment? AQUACREST Garden Hose Water Filter with Hose Protector, Improve Plants Health, Reduces Chlorine, Odor, Calcium, Ideal for Gardening, Farming and Pets https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YCJ33Q...abc_FB7MDER4HKWYS7ACB20P?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I’m on the search for something to attach to my hose when filling after evaporation. Mostly concerned with limiting calcium. There are many options on Amazon- I’m looking for something super simple.

I looked into getting something similar to cure nasty water spots when washing vehicles. I’m order for them to work at all, or do so with even the slightest amount of flow, they become very expensive.

It made sense in hindsight. My old Brita pitcher in the fridge got it all out. 7 drips at a time. Lol.

Those hose end filters won’t work very well. They need low flow rates and will be exhausted quickly. If you can’t do a whole-home water softener setup (worth every penny invested) then look into getting RV ion exchange filters. There are many simple options out there and different tank sizes. RV water softeners are designed for point of use and are typically very easy to setup and maintain.

Was it the same company that quoted $800 or someone else ? Same price ?
In the end I went with a 3rd company. The first one ghosted me. The second one can’t get me in until January. So I found this one who is here today and charges less. $650. They all use the same trailer set up so I was comfortable with any of them doing it.

Thanks for this scoop! I’ll look into those now. I kinda figure since I’m only using the softener when I have evaporation in the pool, I don’t need a giant setup.

I believe @mknauss can give you some leads and pointers as he uses an RV softener setup.

Inside of RO trailer. Had to take photo! Plus took a photo of instructions posted in case there is curiosity.

I love these random pool service guys - not one of them ever has a neatly organized truck/trailer. Just throw all the hoses and junk onto the back and let the chemicals splash around. I only once ever met a trades guy who was OCD enough to care. He did custom cabinets & closets and he has a trailer that was basically a mobile wood shop. It was amazing!! Everything was neatly organized and he had a full 14” radial arm saw along with a drill press and jig saw. He could fabricate anything he needed in there.

I do have a RV softener for our pool. So does @Rancho Cost-a-Lotta -- and I believe he has his install documented a bit better!

Ask any question you like. Cost for my set up was right at $300 total. It can soften about 800 gallons of water before you recharge with about 4# of salt.

Were you able to set it up yourself? I have the link @Rancho Cost-a-Lotta provided last time. They were kinda pricey, but I suppose so is RO!

I did it myself. I just plumbed it between the water source and my autofill. It is purely manual. No electronics, etc.

True on the price. Our water is very cheap so not economic, but my wife likes the water with less CH. So I installed it!

Which type did you get? Mind sharing a link so I can take a peek?
