Metals will tend to show when you have higher levels of FC and/or higher pH.
Not saying it is, but that vibrant green with multiple days of SLAM level FC is a sign that it could be metals. It is very rare for a pool with algae to not be blue and cloudy after 36-48 hours at SLAM level FC.

Well, just left the pool store and they showed zero iron and zero copper. Phosphates were at 52. They showed my FC to be 13 which is what I measured it at as well before coming to the store. Any ideas?

That color change is a little more reassuring, but we'll see. Hat's-off to you for hanging in there.

moving very slowly you should try to vacuum some of that out to waste. don't run it through your filter. remember to check levels when you replace water.
Yes indeed! Thanks for all your guys help!! I will keep you updated on the progress. I have not tried the overnight chlorine loss test yet but will soon.
So pretty soon it will lose the green tinge and go cloudy/milky. When that happens you’ve killed most/all of the algae and it shifts from a chemistry fight to a filter out all the crud fight. You keep the FC up just for good measure. Some times you may brush or stir old algae up that needs to be killed, but for the most part, the FC holds very well from there on out.
Shift at that point to babysit the filter. It will need cleaning when the PSI rises 25%. I forget what you have but if it’s sand you can add DE to speed it along. You have to stay close though because you’ll turbocharge the filter and it will need rinsing quick. This stage tends to drag on for most but don’t get discouraged, be happy that you aren’t blowing through chlorine.
Also, if the FC demand comes back a bit, do not get discouraged there either. Be happy that there was more to kill and you killed it. So see the big picture when it’s testing your patience. Progress is progress, albeit slow at times.

Sounds good! Hopefully we can get a few more hot weekends in before the cold weather settles in. What’s the process for closing up the pool for the winter? Obviously I’ve done it many times before, but I’m wondering what you guys recommend?

Well guys I think I am home free now. Here is how the pool looked yesterday after work prior to me vacuuming up the little bit of debris in the middle. I passed the OCLT this morning as well. So now I can allow my FC to drift down to 3-5 ppm correct?

Yes, you can now allow the FC to slowly fall. Although keep in mind your winter closing schedule. Often times owners elevate the FC level a week or so before closing as one final effort to ensure there is minimal organic material in the water prior to shut-down.
