Finished my pool equipment shed today. Keeps everything out of the elements and still easy to get to everything by leaving one side open. Should keep the noise from the pump down too. I also added a flowerbed with rocks where I buried my downspouts. Just waiting on my final handrail to arrive. 👍

It has warmed up to almost 60 degrees for a few days so I got my $29 lounge chairs out of the attic to try them out. I just wanted to see how they fit on the concrete. I’m so glad I added that extra 5x20 ft of concrete in the lounger area. Plenty of room to walk around the pool with it having 10 ft of concrete width in that space. There is plenty of room to add little tables or even another lounger if needed. That was $700 well spent!

I know the feeling. Based on advice from this site we made the decision to add 200 sq. ft. of deck the day the deck was being poured. One of the best on the fly decisions we made. TFP is an awesome place.

I’ve been getting a dirty water line on one corner of the pool. There has been dirt from the soil and concrete dust blowing in the water on windy days it seems. The scrub brush won’t touch it but I got a lot off with a cloth the other day. This isn’t anything related to my water chemistry or calcium level is it? Can I use a magic eraser to safely remove it completely? Thanks!

I used the magic eraser on my FG shell for a while after construction was wrapped up. A lot of dirt flying around gets in there, and despite the filters doing there job, that ring around the shell appears. When we closed the pool we did a thorough cleaning of the filters, so hopefully by spring the dirt will be minimized.

My skimmer is capped from the pool but I noticed it was full of water and concrete sand. I shop vac-ed it clean and dry & removed the basket but noticed water keeps seeping in. I threw in a 2 liter bottle with some rocks in the bottom to absorb the water freezing this winter. I’ll get a Gizmo and some pool noodle pieces next winter. They are bringing me a new skimmer cover for the top, it got dirty when they poured the concrete.

Vacuum the water and add a plug to the line if not already plugged. Then pour in a gallon of rv antifreeze amd that will keep it good. If using pool noodle pieces you need to screw the cover on while its dry then fill thru the hole from top or let pool water seep in naturally. Is pool winterized?

We never ran the equipment after install so all the pipes are dry, i’m waiting til spring to start everything up. My pool is frozen solid this morning after temps in the teens for 2 days. Warming up today though. My skimmer water was frozen but my bottle absorbed the ice. I broke up the ice in there, it was pretty thin.

PB came and installed the final handrail today and it’s is crooked. My wife sent the pic, I’m at work and she was gone when he came. I’m assuming this isn’t an easy fix since the base is set in concrete. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Looks like they never leveled the anchors. The fix to avoid busting the concrete is having a shop with a hydraulic bender put a slight bow in the rail base. Otherwise you gotta bust the anchors out and make a patch that usually doeant look good. That's a rookie mistake for a concrete crew not familiar with pool decks. If its not real bad and can be leveled when anchors are loose you could shim the leaning side amd tighten. It will be a pain to keep doing this every year if you winterize.
