Solar cover reel

My pool is 15W X 30L. We bought a solar cover some months ago (was on sale), thinking I'd buy the reel about this time. I'm totally unfamiliar with them (covers as well as reels). Am having difficulty sorting out 1) what width reel is best; .2) what type & kind of clips to attach cover to reel. We paid about $90.00 for the solar cover. The thought crossed my mind that maybe it's more cost effective to just buy an entirely new solar cover that comes with its own reel. Am wide open to any pearls of wisdom. Thanks very much.

It's hard to answer with knowing the configuration of your pool and the surrounding pool deck and yard. If you have diving board, you may need a low one below the board or place it in the shallow end. Also you have to look where you want to store the reel when the cover is not in use. If you have a large deck area, you could possibly cut the cover into two pieces (15'x15') and then just pull off and fold each section of cover without using a reel.

I have recently bought a Rocky Eazy Roller. Since I have not used it yet, I can't report how good it is. It gets good reviews. I put it together and it looks like solid construction. My last reel lasted 13 years but no longer available. I like to buy quality so an item lasts a long time instead of buying cheaper and replacing the item a lot.

For my needs, I look for a low to the ground (but with enough clearance for the solar cover) and wide base. For my size pool, there is a significant amount of weight from the solar cover while rolling the cover. If the tube is too high or the base is too narrow, the reel could tip over while rolling up the cover or while pulling the cover back over the pool. The Rocky Eazy Roller looks like it will fit my needs. I don't plan on using the deck anchors but the roller shifts around while in use, then I will do the install and anchor it down to the concrete deck. The other consideration was that my wife will do a lot of the rolling alone so it had to be easy to use.

With your smaller pool, something like this may work. Maybe someone with experience with your size pool can provide better advice.

I got the rocky reel with 'T' feet like this. I didnt install the wheels and it never budged. I had a 20X40 16 mil cover. The momentum alone from wheeling it on, I can only imagine how tippy the ones with 'n' feet would have been. 9b5c1a5e-dcd9-431b-af57-70ae756c9191.01d976254c976da1b9ac8c3516f4b8e6.jpeg

Intheswim had great prices on them at the time.

Thanks very much for your help! You've provided some direction for me to head into; much appreciated.
