I've got a skimmer with 2” inlet to the plumbing and the threads are damaged. When I opened the pool in the spring I barely was able to get the plug out. Can I plug the skimmer for the winter with a rubber expansion plug instead of a threaded plug? Any other suggestions?

You can use an expansion plug or a gizmo in the skimmer. Can you confirm the threads are damaged? It might have just been cross-threaded into the skimmer. A little silicone pool lube on the plug threads helps them go on and come out easier.

Yeah. Threads are definitely messed up. Looks like bits of the plumbing sealant got in the threads when it was installed.

If I can use the expansion plug without a problem....problem solved
