Raypal 266 millivolt natural gas heater, pilot won't light

Not sure how far you want to go but there is a orfice inside at the bottom of pilot assy. You need to remove the tubing from the assy. and unscrew the nut. If it is severely rusted you have to be careful not to break.

I installed the new pilot and it stays lit. I am getting 570 ish mv. But the heater won't fire on it's own. If I jump the TH's it fires so the gas valve is ok, If I remove the jumper and turn down the thermostat dial, the heater tuns off, so I am thinking that the switch and t stat are ok.

Do I jump the pressure switch next and then the high limits?

thanks

This should be the manual for your heater: https://www.poolsinc.com/pdf/raypak/raypak-digital-heater-product-manual.pdf Refer to the wiring diagram on page 28. If you put one lead of your meter set to mv on the TP or PP terminal of the gas valve ( depending on which gas valve your heater uses) and trace with the other meter lead through the connections to the roll out switch, water pressure switch, both high limits, the thermostat and the on/off switch at some point you will lose your 570mv reading. That will be the control/safety/switch that is preventing the heater from firing.

Thanks again. I jumped all the connections since my multi meter wouldn't reach. None of them fired the heater. Jumping the TH terminals stil fired it up. So I started wiggling the wires to see if there was a loose connection. Seems like the connections to the rollout switch were a bit loose as the heater fired up when I moved them. We will see next week when I turn the heater on for the season, supposed to get close to freezing overnight the next few nights
