    High CYA.

Is guess your original zero CYA test was the result of the PH being so low. Must have caused test strip failure. Using pucks forever, the 150+ figure makes sense. You will need a very high FC # to keep the pool clean with CYA so high. Since we don't know how high it actually is, that is not...

About to do my first backwash

I am not an expert, but I agree with not making these decisions based on time when you have more accurate and case-specific options such as pressure and/or a visual cue such as spillover. For example, I have a back yard with an 8ft tall privacy fence and drains in the deck. Very little crud...

    Pump Replacement Quote(s)

Hey all, My Hayward pump seems to have sputtered to an unfortunate end after just 3.5yrs. Last night the pump shut itself off, with the display indicated the pump had stalled. Attempts to restart resulted in a quick "vrr" and then another stall. Had a tech out today who I like a lot, the...

    Automation needs a new watch!

For you, is the battery inside the main board or the remote?

    Automation needs a new watch!

I've got an Aqualogic automation system running a Hayward VSP and Polaris pool cleaner. These components all work, but the automation system cannot keep track of what time it is. This began happening within the last week, and I can't find any discernable pattern to the failures. What happens...

Where is this water coming from?

Here are some more pictures. Literally 0 water coming through the backwash "window" with pump running, and some better shots of the plumbing.

Where is this water coming from?

I let the spigot run for about 2 minutes fully open - enough that I'd be shocked if there was still water in the backwash pipe. I do not attach a hose or open the spigot to backwash normally - the pool is piped into a waste line that goes to sewer (or so I was told.) I can also drain water...

Where is this water coming from?

Refusing to believe I was losing 4"+ of water per week to evaporation, I investigated and discovered that my backwash/pump valve was leaking water into backwash every second the pump was running. I seem to resolved this by taking the big key cover off, rebricaring the seal, and reassembling. I...

How much water do you lose per week?

Here's a better look. No water in the backwash window now, but if I open the little backwash relief spicket, water water water. I don't think that pipe is under pressure as the backwash goes to waste when the spicket is closed. Any ideas?
