Ok thanks for the suggestions. I did notice last year that there was constant water sitting on top of the multiport valve around the black handle. That's why I thought maybe there was an O ring problem or gasket issue.

Yeah it's always such a guessing game.

I'm thinking about adding borates\borax to my pool sometime this season. However, we have small barn swallow birds that during the course of the day drink the water. They swoop down and grab a small amount of water as they fly over the pool. Will 50ppm of Borates hurt the birds?

The solution now is: My hose bib gets softened water from my water softener, plus I am using an eco one filter on the end of my garden hose.

So I had the water tested and the pool store is stating that there is about 3ppm of iron in the water.

That's exactly what they told me. I am going to get a water sample from them before giving the fire company the green light to come. I was going to take the sample to my local pool store to just see what the level is.
