A few questions before I splurge on this heater....

My suggestion would be to look into getting the cupro-nickel heat exchanger option. It is more durable but it is slightly less efficient because of the material copper vs cupro-nickel. As for the by-pass I didn't put one on. Since I installed the heater myself I didn't want to spend more time...

    Need help with vacuuming

I also have two lines coming out from the ground that meet and feed into the pump. One side is fed from the 2 skimmer lines and the other side is from the main drain. What I normally do when I vacuum is to plug one hole on one of the skimmer. I sometimes close the valve for the main drain...

    Covers for heater and SWG?

An article I read in Popular Mechanics a while back mentioned not to cover AC units with a tarp. Moisture builds up underneath causing corrosion. They recommend placing a piece of plywood on top and securing it to prevent stuff from falling into the AC unit. I cover my AC unit in the fall with...

What type of caulk to use

I have the same type of pool, fiberglass side concrete bottom. To seal the joints between the two materials we use a polyurethane caulk made by sikaflex. It is marine grade for underwater use. Don't remember the specific model.

Just opened pool - shock with 0 CYA?

My one suggestion to this post is that while slamming and before you start adding CYA to vaccum and backwash the filter one last time because once you add CYA you should not be backwashing.

inground pull with mesh pull cover. open to 1000's of worms in the pool

Had the same problem until I decided to add a 2 feet wide gravel stone border around the pool. Problem is considerably lessened. Make sure to put weed block fabric down prior to laying down the stones. In addition to this I stick 1/2 inch nylon rope under the pool cover to close off the small...

    skimmer closing

The bottle will feel squishy because you are not exerting equal pressure on all sides when you squeeze it with your hands. The same cannot be said when it is frozen in the skimmer. The freezing water will exert pressure on it equally and it will not be compressible if it is filled with...

    How Much Antifreeze?

How much depends on your pool size and how many line you have. I have a 22000 gallon pool. Equipment is about 20 feet away. I lower the water below the return and skimmer lines and then blow the lines. I pour antifreeze in each hole until it is filled up or the AF starts to come out of...

    DIY Solar heater questions

I have a feeling that the instructions you bought from the site would be very similar to this design: http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-your-own-flat-panel-solar-thermal-collector/?ALLSTEPS My main worry about this design is the potential of leaks. The seal between the panel and the pipe...

    Raypak P-R406A-EN-C start up problem

You may have a blocked pilot tube or orifice. You symptoms sound exactly like mine a few weeks ago. I have a raypack heater too but don't remember the model #. Do this, take out the pilot assembly together with the pilot tube. When you blow on one end you should feel some air coming out of...

    My pool opening in pictures

I'm using a Logitech Alert camera. Here's the link to it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Outdoor-Add-On-Security-Camera/dp/B003X26LYQ It is an IP based camera so it doesn't require hook up to a computer. The good thing about it is that it can be powered over the ethernet cable (power...
