Cloudy can mean dead algae?

Cloudy is after the stuff may be dead. Mine was cloudy for 3 weeks after it was slammed. I wait for rain water as I have a well, and need tons of water to flush it out with. It's as good as ever now. Cloudy doesn't mean algae. At least if it's a blue ish pool and white ish cloud. 1...

Your numbers are good. You don't need CH in a vinyl pool. TA could go up more if you choose. I keep mine around 70. Just seems to work with the water here. Just keep chlorine in your pool, and you should be good

Thanks. And back flushing can take a cup or so out at a time... at least is what I read and the last time i had it opened it wasn't as full as it should have been... so don't need much. just want to top it off. I know it never runs out of usefulness. Will go look again.

I can't find it at my local lowes, or home depot... the best thing I have found is play sand and I am sure that can't be right (I have not bought it for the filter) Is this something I may have to go to a pool store for? Or is it some kind of gravely sand? and is at the hardware stores? Just...

Interesting info, thanks. A lot is from the roof as i have a well... so when it rains it pours :) Guess i need to filter it a little more before it goes in... hmmm. and the rain water was from a bucket on the side of the pool after it rained, it was the only water in it.

yea. i guess i blame this time on the rain... the other times were what stumped me. As in hot and sunny, no rain, and it would go up in a week. I notice it when the FC drops a lot in a day for no reason, I check the PH and it is way up.... It is plaster and built in 96'. Will lower it...

Ollies has it for 2.99 for a full gallon of 12.5%... going there tomorrow with coupons, so should be 10% less at best. been getting 8% at Aldi for 2.80 a gallon. Was waiting for Ollies... Seems all the companies have raised prices this year as Ollies was 2.50 last year.

Thought to post this earlier, but forgot. I think I get what was wrong now. I tested it thinking the rain water just mixed with the old water without ever running the pump after winter, and when i opened it. So I guess the new water sat on top of the old so it was 10, then it mixed, and...

PS. The first test was outdoors with bright sun, and the tube filled all the way up, just slightly cloudy could see all the way to the bottom. the next one was indoors with room temp water, but the dot disappeared between 80 and 60... kind of right at 70. using indoor lights and some outdoor...

Wish the laminated card would say use room temp water for the test, instead of just on the extended directions on this forum. Since it seems to be a major thing. Pool is perfect... beyond perfect other than CYA... I thought it was 10, added some to bring it up... read the directions on here...
