    Rainbow 300 installation question

THAT is what i was looking for and thinking. Whoever installed this unit put the inlet downstream of the filter. I think that creates a null pressure differential and there will be no or little flow through the chlorination circuit. Thanks very much for that E. Paul

    Rainbow 300 installation question

Hello, I inherited a Rainbow 300 offline chlorinator with my in-ground pool. It is not working well while connected but all the parts seem to be OK. Connections are good. Water flows through the system when the outlet is not connected. The check valve is working. But when on line, the tablets...

Pump Inlet pipe at 2 inches or 1.5 inches

Actually it got even easier. After some closer inspection, the gate valve for the skimmer had a leaky packing nut. I fixed that and my suction leak went away. I decided not to open up a can of worms cutting out all the existing valves and tee when it is now working well.

    Newer RayPak 2100 cycling on/off

Hi ps0303, Thanks for the cautionary note. The VS pump had been running at full speed and the cycling was present. In the owners manual it suggests adjusting the water pressure switch for such instances. It also suggests testing the switch, heater off, with a multimeter. The switch seems to...

    Newer RayPak 2100 cycling on/off

Hello gang, I have a 6 month old RayPak 2100 natural gas heater that is giving me some problems that I thought were related to my new VS pump but now, pretty sure it is the pressure switch on the heater. The symptom is that the heater is cycling on and off fairly frequently...like 5 minute...

Pump Inlet pipe at 2 inches or 1.5 inches

Hello gang, I am going to replace my 2 suction side valves with a 3-way diverter. I have dissimilar pipe diameters coming in and need some advice. The skimmer is 2-inch PVC. The main drain is 1.5 inch. The feed from the 3-port diverter could be 2 inches with a male adapter or 1.5-inch union...

first time draining for cleaning and maintenance

Hello group, This is my 4th summer with this this pool build in the late 80's. This is the first season I have decided to drain the pool for cleaning, maintenance including a new hydrostatic valve. A couple of things to ask about. Any reason there would be a rubber plug in the main drain...

    All ports off for winterization

Hi Jim and Poolgate, Yes, I wanted to close off both the skimmer and main line for the winter using a 3 way diverter but I am learning that is not how they operate and that is fine. Typically what happens at the end of the season is I blow out each of those lines individually then close off the...

New Hayward MaxFlo VS to replace a Challenger 1hp

Well since no replies I had to go with what I researched. I bought and installed the unit today. After some initial suction side problems the pot is free of air and happily pumping water throughout my pool. Lots to learn in programming, integrating my Polaris into the mix and also my heating...

    All ports off for winterization

Hello gang, I currently have a suction side setup of a skimmer and main drain line merging at a tee fitting before connecting to my pump inlet. Each feeder line has its own two-way valve. I have found a problem with the very old gate valve on the skimmer line and am thinking about replacing...

New Hayward MaxFlo VS to replace a Challenger 1hp

Hello group, I am thinking of replacing my old Challenger 1HP single speed pump with a Hayward MaxFlo VS to better manage energy costs and noise. Plus take advantage of rebates from my energy provider. Do you have any thoughts on this pump for my application? Too broad a question? Thanks. Paul

    Pentair SuperFlo VS pad orientation

Nice suggestion kadavis and thanks. Sometimes it is tough to find all the product and brand options out there which is why the hive brain here is so great. I'll check out that Hayward. Also, not sure why that pump discharge was implemented that way. I inherited it. But if I do decide to...

    Pentair SuperFlo VS pad orientation

Yes, that is true. It is a 3 HP 230 volt solution for $400+ more. Way more HP than my pool needs. Thanks for the suggestion but I'd like to stay within a lower budget.

    Pentair SuperFlo VS pad orientation

Hello, I currently have an old Pentair Challenger 1HP single speed pump for my in-ground pool. My local energy company is promoting rebates on VS pumps, in addition to the better operating cost and quiet operation, that is attractive. The trouble is most of these VS pumps have control pads...
