Remodel: switching automatic pool cover from under-coping to encapsulated track

Have you ever seen one installed? Do they support any weight on top? (They’re marketed as “not a safety cover” but if my dog runs across, will it do damage?) They do seem to have an install method with a vault at one end of the pool, but not sure if the vault needs to be significant if larger to...

Remodel: switching automatic pool cover from under-coping to encapsulated track

After a long conversation with the guys who installed our original cover, it seems new need at least mostly new parts. Even though the pool opening is the same size, the extra couple of inches between the tracks means we need a new leading edge bar, fabric, and drum that it rolls around. I have...

Remodel: switching automatic pool cover from under-coping to encapsulated track

Agreed! The encapsulated track goes under the coping in our case, on top of the bond beam. Didn’t realize that could also refer to on-deck!

Remodel: switching automatic pool cover from under-coping to encapsulated track

In remodeling our 15x50' pool, we're adding a spillway from the new spa on the middle of the long side. The design necessitates switching our pool cover track from being mounted under the coping to an encapsulated track. (Our old track didn't stay in old our coping very well, so this has seemed...

    AquaBrite Eco Finish remodel: $32,000?

We’re remodeling our 50x15’ 28k gallon pool in Sonoma county, northern CA. The plaster is discolored but otherwise in good shape, making it a good candidate to resurface with AquaBrite Eco Finish. (Liked the smooth surface and easy startup promise.) Our PB finally got the quote back (it took a...

Travertine Pavers: Sand or Concrete Base?

In case it’s helpful to anyone else trying to figure out what to do in the future, here’s the advice from the stone expert I’ve been working with and come to respect and trust, and what he’s doing in his own pool remodel (with limestone pavers): I think we’re also going to go with concrete...
