    Stain on stairs

Thanks! The plaster is only a couple years old. I usually run FC a couple above target so curious to see if it fades toward the end of the season or if there is something else going on.

    Stain on stairs

Hello, After cleaning the pool of all the leaves when we opened for the season, we were left with a small stain on the top stair of the pool. At first, this looked like an organic stain because parts of the stain were shaped like leaves; however, they haven't gone away after a few SLAM...

    Infested by crows!

Thanks! I just fixed the link so it should work now. Thanks for the quote from the bird forum! I guess my pool has been chosen as the dumping ground!!

    Infested by crows!

I came outside this morning and saw what looked like bird poop around the perimeter of the pool. There was about one “dropping” every 2-3” literally around the entire pool. No biggie, I took the hose and cleaned it up. Come back a couple hours later and the pattern started again! This time, I...

Bubbles in one of the returns

This has been resolved. After inspecting the glass cover and o-ring in the filter basket 3 times, I thought I’d try it once more and secure the top a different way. Once I did that there were no more bubbles in the basket! In addition to that, the noise that was coming from the heat pump (almost...

Bubbles in one of the returns

Thanks for the suggestion! I checked the o-ring on the glass top of the filter basket; however, that seems to be OK from what I can tell. That said, there are definitely bubbles in that basket. (See video here) Any additional thoughts?

Bubbles in one of the returns

Hey, Everyone! I noticed tonight that one of the returns seems to be producing a lot of bubbles at the surface whereas the others do not. I also hear that return making some noise, almost like it's gulping water. Lastly, (And this may be because I hear the noise on the return) but I feel like...

    Hight salt and PH Levels

Hey, Guys, I continue to hear complaints about peoples eyes burning after using the pool. My PH levels are always around 7.5-7.8 max, so I'm wondering if something else might be causing this. Any thoughts? Here are my latest complete test results as of Friday FC- 8 CC - 0 PH - 7.7 TA -80 CH...

    Hight salt and PH Levels

Thanks! I just ordered the Taylor kit. The kids had a blast today, but some were complaining about their eyes toward the end of the day, probably related to the higher salt levels. I'll have to backwash a few times and top off to see if I can bring the salt levels down a bit.

    Hight salt and PH Levels

Good morning! This morning I noticed my SWG flashing the "High Salt" warning. The light flashed before about a week or two ago, and then it stopped blinking without me having to change anything. (It did rain, however) In addition to the high salt warning, I've noticed that my PH level is...

Chlorine after a heavier than normal usage

Thanks again, @MKNAUSS! I think the builder is saying the IC20 is sized properly because they are saying to keep FC between 1-3ppm. At 60% for 12hours a day, that should produce 1.44PPM. In my situation, I want to maintain between 3-5PPM (More like 7ppm to keep a target of 5pPM) . If I...

Chlorine after a heavier than normal usage

Thanks, @mknauss! I've heard from others that the IC20 is undersized. I brought this up to my pool builder, and they told me that it's rated for pools up to 20k gallons (which mine is below.) I've been recording my FC levels the past few days, and even with minimal use, I'm finding I need to...

    Chlorine warning label

Hello, I just came back from Ocean State Job Lot to pickup some liquid chlorine (called Mega Shock @ 12%) I was reading the label and it had an interesting warning that read "Re-Entry into treated swimming pools is prohibited above levels of 4ppm of chlorine due to bodily harm" Who approves...

Chlorine after a heavier than normal usage

Hey, Guys, I had a quick question about the best way to maintain the pool after a heavier than normal usage (13 swimmers vs. 4) The day started off with the following test results: FC - 2.5 - (Added almost 4 cups of additional chlorine this morning) CC - 0 PH - 7.8 (Added 20oz of muriatic acid...

    Phosphates and Chlorine Levels

Quick update. OCLT was less than 1PPM so the water should be in good shape! Next step, slowly increase CYA.
