Photocatalytic Pool Sanitizer - Worth it ??

Had another discussion with my local supply shop and decided to pool the trigger an a SWCG. I also got an automatic acid feeder to keep the ph under control. I guess now its time to do some more reading on how my routine should change. Dump question...I am trying to access pool school to do...

Photocatalytic Pool Sanitizer - Worth it ??

Unfortunately its impossible to buy anymore....no one ships them to Cyprus...and if they did international shipping has gone over the roof. Any similar test kits available in Europe?? In terms of scale, the answer is yes, we do get limescale buildup on faucets and drying dishware

Photocatalytic Pool Sanitizer - Worth it ??

For some reason the pool supply shop was not possitive when I proposed this option...saying something about our water here in Cyprus being very "hard"... I was considering SWCG when I wanted to give up on liquid chlorine and before moving back to trichlor. This is a good time to reconsider it...

Photocatalytic Pool Sanitizer - Worth it ??

The idea ( not fully convinced) is that you can keep the pool sanitary with less chlorine (lower fc level) and as such easier to control infections. Also less trichlor means less water changes to control CYA.

Photocatalytic Pool Sanitizer - Worth it ??

Are photocatalytic pool sanitizers such as the below a useful addition to my filtration system?? https://www.elecro.co.uk/product/quantum/ Or are they in essence a type of UV light steriliser for which I guess the tfp position is that they are no needed/ worth it. I have an outdoor 50m3 lap...

Immersed hardwood causes algae problems ???

Greetings to all and many thanks for all the feedback I had a chat with the contractor who installed my deck during which I shared my thinking on how to seal the skirting. He was not positive and explained that any stain/sealant/epoxy would only last a few months. I do appreciate that ceramic...

Immersed hardwood causes algae problems ???

Thanks both for the feedback! The pool was build as follows: Plaster was finished to the top edge of the pool and then the hard wood was screwed onto the surface. The wood was not fully sealed (teak oil was applied but that staff goes away pretty quickly) and as far as I remember no seal was...

Immersed hardwood causes algae problems ???

I just finished another summer season during which I had to work very hard to keep my pool clean with the algae at check. Despite keeping proper FC and Ph levels I needed to slam the pool too often (every couple of weeks if not more often) and to scrub almost weekly to keep the pool algae...

Am I battling mustard algae ???

Thanks for the feedback. A couple of questions if I may! Say I want to reduce CYA to 50. Should I leave 15% of my old water and replace 85%?? 15% * CYA360 = CYA54 (assuming that CYA in the new water will be nil) So for my 50m3 pool I should replace 43m3 and keep 7m3??

Am I battling mustard algae ???

I just took measurements but I need to explain what I am doing first. 1)My swimming pool was going through some pretty bad algae infection. 2) I was due to change my water to lower my CYA. 3) I had a bucket full of Trichlor tablets which I stopped using since moving to liquid chlorine So what...

Am I battling mustard algae ???

My greetings to the Group I have a plaster/pebble pool (Beadcreete) which I have been treating for an algae infection for the past two weeks. This involves slam level chlorine and brushing with a stainless steel brush, daily at the beginning, less often now. The pump was on continuously for...
