Why does my water look cloudy when the cover is open and expose to the sun?

Haven’t figured it out yet. But doesn’t seem like it would be related to the ropes right? Since it’s relying on the drum to pull pack. What does the torque bracket/cramp on the opposite side of the motor do?

My rope broke at the end of the cover where the rope ties in at the webbing. Need to replace rope but unsure of the cover type. Can anyone tell by this poor picture.

We have a 17,500 gal in ground vinyl pool, sand filter. Looking to buy shock for the season. Any recommendation?

First year that I closed the pool myself. We are in Illinois and there a periods of below freezing. I didn’t drain below the skimmer as I read mixed reviews. Suggestions on what to do? Or am I good.

What about adding antifreeze in the pool lights? I know there’s water in there.
