    bizarre PH readings in fountain

FC = 12.0 CC = 0 CH = 250 TA = 60 PH = ???? CYA = 82 Salt = 400 Bor = 16 I add chlorine via trichlor tablets (in the past), now because of high CYA will be adding bleach as needed I add muriatic acid as needed I add borates in the form of borax occasionally

    bizarre PH readings in fountain

I have begun testing my small fountain (100 gallons). I have been observing a strange phenomenon when testing PH. For example when I tested today after first putting in the reagent, I got a reading of 7.0, after 1 minute the reading was 7.4, then 7.6 after 2 minutes, and at 4 minutes, it was...

    New plaster and high CH

Just curious, why should I increase CYA? I thought 30-50 was the preferable range. BTW, I don't have an SWG, I just have salt because I like the feel.

    New plaster and high CH

I have not filled my pool since the original startup after plastering. My fill water has a CH of 175.

    New plaster and high CH

I had my pool re-plastered with PebbleFina Feb. 2018. After the plastering in Feb. I had a CH reading of 450 (TF100 kit). In March it went up to 475 and now in April it is 500. For completeness all the readings today are: FC=3.0 CC<.5 CH=500 TA=90 PH=7.6 CYA=35 salt=1260 borates=15 CSI=.13...

    PH target

Every weekend I do a full TF100 test on my pool water. Then I plug the numbers into PoolMath. I then adjust the PH number until a get a CSI of 0. I use the adjusted PH number as my target PH for that week. Is this a good way to do it?

base demand and acid demand tests

I have found an old taylor K-2005 test kit. In that kit are reagents for base demand and acid demand. Evidently these tests tell you how much acid or base to add to reach a given PH in your pool. I have never used these tests, I just guestimate the amount of acid or base to add, and then test...

    27 year old pebbletec

Re: 27 year old pebbletec pool... replace? I have not done anything to the "stains". Those white areas seem to be where the pebbles have come off.

    27 year old pebbletec

27 year old pebbletec pool... replace? I have a 27 yr. old pebbletec pool that came with my house, I know very little about the longevity of pebbletec. A pool plasterer saw my pool and said it needs to be replaced and he is willing to do it. I would like some less biased opinions. Here are...
