    Home Automation

Can you tell me more about Hubitat and how it works? Right now I'm primarily using Apple Home to control automations. I have about 40 Philips Hue lights, a couple Meross light switches, Meross garage door openers, & ecobee thermostats.

    CircuPool Core35 SWG Closing Questions

Ok thanks for the info. Not just the sun but also snow, ice, miserably cold weather, etc. I think I will remove it, as I don't see a downside in doing so. I really like the Core35. Very easy to operate and maintained chlorine level very well.

    CircuPool Core35 SWG Closing Questions

First year closing the pool with the Core35 SWG. Per the instructions, it says the control module can be left out all winter, which seems a little odd since the weather can get a bit chilly around here in northern Chicago. For those that have this unit or similar, what are you doing to...

    Initial Setup of SWG

Another item that needs testing is the current salt level in the water. Make sure she buys a testing kit for that as well.

Recommended pool installer in Chicago area?

Aquaone Pools in Barrington or Arvidson Pools in Palatine. Heard good things about both but have no personal experience with them.

Typical Concrete Deck Upgrade Costs For Stamped and Colored

If you have them seal it with a non-glossy flat sealer, it does not get that slippery IMO. Most contractors will use a glossy sealer by default.

Typical Concrete Deck Upgrade Costs For Stamped and Colored

I think we were at about $12 per square foot.

    Pump selection

I went with the Hayward Tristar 2.7HP VS.... not that happy with it. The motor drive unit crapped out after only a few months. After doing some research, seems to be a common problem. Luckily still was under warranty.

Official 2020 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

I smoked the tri-tip for about 50 minutes at 225F until internal temp got to 115-120F. While it was smoking, I put the cast iron skillet in the kitchen oven at 500F to heat it up. Once the meat hit 120F internal temp, I took it off and cranked up the heat to 600F on the Big Joe. I then...

Official 2020 BBQ, Smoking, Grilling, Baking and Beer thread

Well, I am newer here and just stumbled across this awesome thread. Reverse seared a tri-tip last night. I've been cooking on a Kamado Joe Big Joe for about 8 years now. Once I get my outdoor kitchen designed, hoping to add a pellet smoker and griddle.

    Mesh Filter/Skimmer

Thanks! Appreciate the input. I’m not really sure on brand and model of vacuum. Pool was installed by previous owner and don’t have info on it. Maybe just my lack of knowledge on this, but the one I have is a thicker, not-so-flimsy mesh. All the ones I’ve found are more like a mesh netting...
