New house, New-to-me pool, new adventure!

Kind of hard to see, there is a thin layer of water over the cover, but it's within an inch or two, maybe a touch more in areas that have a lot of leaves only due to the weight.

And the skimmer!! Looks to me like the water is sitting right below the inlet vent (is that the right word for it?)

If this helps the discussion any... While filling with a little more water (Don't worry Kimkat I ha e a sample I am taking tomorrow!!) I definitely heard a waterfall-like sound, so you may be right. I don't want to risk a wet phone by shoving it in the skimmer, but I suspect it has about 6-8 inches to go still.

Oh and a few updates pics for your viewing pleasure... Got another idea about gently raking as many leaves as I can to one corner to weigh down cover a little to promote water running to the lowest point. Then pump said water out (and subsequently the nasty green goo)!

Bonus... Leaves are now mostly in one corner easier to take out!

And then I feel bad for disrupting a temporary ecosystem for some local amphibians and worms... But sorry it's my pool!

New guy here to the forum, couple suggestions for ya. cut 2-3-4 inches off the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket, fill part way with bricks, rocks, something heavy, set it on the cover and it will cause a depression, set the pump in the bucket of rocks and using your brush push water to it to get most to drain off. when you go to remove the cover, leave the water bags on one side of the pool, pull cover from the other sides corners over and across those bags.... most if not all the leaves will end up in the yard.

Just did this with mine and it worked like a charm.

What a great idea... Now, to find some 5gal buckets! They are only a few bucks at any store so I may go pick some up, handy to have around regardless.

The results are in!! Well water sample:

PH: 7.4
Copper: 0
Iron: 0
TA: 260
CH: 250 (doesn't matter cuz of liner)

Pool store manager was very polite and gave me a lot of tips, which I appreciated, did give his speech on some products to go for, and I kindly nodded my head.

Said that the TA is just high in this area so that will be something to keep an eye on.

I will be turning the water on tomorrow morning and hopefully following the advice above and pulling cover from one side to the other . My sun theory is working beautifully. Now just light channels of water where some leaves exist. I haven't checked to see where my amphibious friends were...

If this were an ocean, that might be absolutely gorgeous!

Issues to address: help?

What is that hanging off the liner?

It measures in at needing about 9-10" of water. Is that indication of leak at all? It wasn't opened for 2 years, evaporation?

I'm going to fill it over the next week or so... Don't want to run the well for long intervals. Hour here, hour there.
