Here's a little update for anyone interested and as a journal entry, so to speak.
We've a couple of financial snags. Nothing huge...ish....
Hubby's vehicle needed some work. I had figure about $800-1000 for it. Nope! $1900. And I learned that I need to have eye surgery twice in December- each eye separate. Since I have been so stinkin' healthy this year, none of my deductible has been met. So, Thanksgiving week, I have to cough up another $1400. Wasn't planning to have to payout over 3K this month, it will still be a couple weeks before we can sign our contract and get things going.
On the bright side, we haven't finalized our plans yet so there's still time to tweak and improve, as well as more time for me to research. I'm hoping we receive the latest plan version tomorrow or Monday.
I'll post it when I get it.
In in the meantime, it looks like lots of new builds are starting and I'll be gleaning everything I can!

I'm sorry to hear about the eye surgery. Hopefully, it will do the trick since it must be necessary. Those deductibles can be so tricky..... That's why I didn't start up with the whole doctor-go-round thing again until this fall. I took a break from it last fall since I didn't think anything could be done. When I realized things were getting worse, we had begun our pool. There was no point making appointments since I wanted to be available on site to watch over subs as best I could. And ours NEVER told us when they would be here!!! As soon as the pool filled, I started making appointments to begin after Sept 1st. My crazy teacher retirement insurance deductible goes from Sept 1 to Aug 31. This time, that worked out well for me, but it sure plays havoc with me tracking medical expenses for tax purposes. I long for the days when my deductible period was on the same schedule as our tax year.
And car repairs are so annoying. I consider them to be a necessary evil. Take a deep breath..... the finances will work out.
I'm looking forward to seeing the updated plans!

They say "when it rains it pours.." Sounds like that is happening to you right now, Nurse!
But it truly sounds as though it will work in your favor since you now have more time to finalize your design plans.
I can't wait to see your plans.! And it's going to be so much fun following your build.
I hope your eye surgery goes well, and I hope the vehicle repairs the vehicle issue. It would not be a good time to purchase a new car!

Car repairs=yuck! BUT must be done to keep on the move in this world of ours!
The pool will get done and it will be wonderful. This will just give you more time to plan and make sure you get the best bang for you buck!

Suz, I hope all your appointments are going well. That's terrible timing on your insurance, I've never heard of that! That must really be a huge pain!
So, I turned 50 on 10/28, then was diagnosed with cataracts the following week. I thought I would have a few years before I started falling apart ! Ha! My night vision is really bad, and almost nonexistent at night when it's raining. That qualifies me for surgery. I understand many people are very happy afterward. I'm hoping I fall in that category.
I'm just ready to get this contract going! But first things first!

Hopefully, after we get these things paid for, we won't have anymore hiccups! I'm ready for some fun!
Yes, both eyes! They won't do them at the same time and my deductible doubles in January! They said when I have my lens removed, they'll fit me with corrected lens. I'll have to probably wear 1 contact for close work like reading, computers and giving meds but my distance vision will be fixed. So, it'll be opposite what I am now. I wear contacts for distance and nothing for close up.
And yes, double yuck to car repairs, but I bought a new vehicle so we had to "dial in" the truck hubby is taking over. We'll see his Toyota and hopefully get enough to offset the cost of repairs.

I was guessing it was cataracts. Now a days that is not big deal.........says the one NOT having to go through it.

I hope it helps them figure out their plaster or at least how to post a bunch of pictures!
I'm not too worried about the surgery, I'm just frustrated with the timing and I don't want to spend the money (such ALOT!) on anything non-pool related! But I guess it will help me see my great crystal clear TFP water!

Now, please tell me what you think of the colors I just posted! In the Radiant fusion, I like the Topaz and Mdnight. In the Designer series, I like both (of course), in the Sandstone series I'm not sure what I like. I left out a picture of the Blue Diamond that is pictured in the bowl with the Tiger's eye lagoon and the Crystal Blue. Thought I had loaded it, I see now that I double posted the crystal blue. I'll go back and fix it.
The only thing about the Sandstone is that the plaster color is so grey...I'm not sure I will like the look of it on my tanning ledge.

I like the two Radiant Fusion best that you prefer (the two darker ones, but the light one is pretty too.). In my opinion, the Designer Series is too busy up close. I like the Sandstone series, but you do have a point about the grey plaster up close. But overall, I've seen the greys make very pretty blue water colors.
Prayers for your successful cataract surgery. I wondered why you wouldn't wait until next year to at least benefit from working towards meeting your deductible earlier in the year, but since you said your deductible will double, that explains doing it now! Waiting on the pool until these extra expenses clear will be tough, but it will be all the sweeter enjoying the pool when it's done with and everything else is out of the way.

I really like the Radiant 2 & 3 1 is too light. I like a darker blue water color.
To tell you the truth any would be great! It is just a question of which one would be greater! LOL

Well, I would have rolled up and died if I had had so many samples to choose from!!! Lol!!! I was going to give you my opinion (like it would help), but I'm too confused! I would want the one that has the most sparkle (if I could afford it), and I'm having a hard time telling if one line will give more sparkle than another line. I guess the glass beads would do that, but they all seem to have glass beads.
If you want a really blue water, then I'd stay away from the grays and the ones that have tan and brown pebbles (those give off a green hint). And gray plaster will definitely look gray on any shallow areas. Mine does, but I don't mind it. If I were to do it over again, I probably would go with a darker blue plaster than the medium gray that Blue Granite in PebbleTec gives. I discovered that I like the pool water warmer than I thought I would like, so I would definitely go for a darker finish to get warmer water.
Still can't make decisions, and it's not even my pool!!!! Sorry.....

I had cataract surgery last month. One hour after arrival at the surgery center, I was back home. The actual procedure took less than 15 min. I could see better immediately after surgery. A follow up the next day, some eye drops for a couple weeks. Three weeks later, repeat the process and I have the vision of my much younger self. I only wish it were that easy to make other parts behave as when much younger. As I always say: getting old is the pits.....until you consider the alternative.
Vision improvement- well I still need glasses but, just for small print and the lowest power (125) drugstore readers work just fine.

That's good to know!! Thank you, Chief! I don't know of anyone else that has had it done. It seems that I am in a small 5% category of 50 yr olds that get cataracts. Lucky me! I'm looking forward to seeing better though!

Jamie, Suz and Kim- if the price is right, I'll be doing one of the darker radiant fusion colors, although it is a tough choice! However, I'm sure Kim is right in that they will all look good! At the very least, better than what I have now!
My sister just had the cataract surgery on Monday. They did one eye and she is very happy with the results.

Just so you cataract surgery has become the procedure that has a higher satisfaction rate than any other. There are a number of drug regimens and health conditions that lead to earlier formation of cataracts. Not uncommon at all for those in their 50's now.
