TF-100 readings and my SLAM process

Sorry I have not been able to post. I have been super busy. I did not write down anything today, but have stayed above shock level of 20. I will do a CC test later. I did add some bleach today, but am only losing about 1ppm every 2 hours.

Cannot get my gauge to drop much. It never even started off at 0 when we first got it. I back washed so much I lost about 1/4 of my water. I was rinsing too. Water turned clear in glass bubble. I even took it apart and cleaned the filter that is under the 6way and did a cleaning with the hose allowing water to over flow out debris

It will not be at 0 when the pump is on due to it having pressure and working.

The only time it is at 0 is when it is not working/on.

It has been said that sand that is a little "dirty" works/filters better.

It sound like you did a DEEP clean.

You say that it was at 2 when you first started using the sand filter. So you know that is your "clean" pressure. What you do now is backwash/rinse when it goes up 8-10 psi over your clean pressure.

Has anyone told you about adding DE to your sand to help clear up the water now that you are so close to being done with the SLAM?

Yes, I know about the DE. I am just keeping an eye on my gauge for now.

I'm kinda busy right now and will check in later. Please don't dump your sand. You said "it started" at 5 and you went to 10. How low did it go after back-washing? Back to around 5?

Will discuss back-wash timing later...

It never went back to 5. I backwashed 2 mins then rinse for 30 seconds. I repeated this for 30 mins. I could not go any longer as my pool was not going to be able to let anymore water out. Guage is sitting at 9 right now. I got it to go to 7 during backwash king.

Was that reading of 7 when you were back on "filter"? If you back-washed that much, that may be as low as it's gonna go.

If you really drained 1/4 of your water, your CYA will dilute upon refill and you will have a new FC goal.

In the future, you can stop back-washing when that sight-glass runs clear. Then rinse for 30 seconds to a minute. Opinion varies on the timing of rinsing, but I do a minimum of 30 seconds but go longer if the sight-glass is not yet clear.

When did you get that reading of 7?

No more back-washing for now, ok? Let's see where it is in a while.

Have you brushed to stir up the bottom? I was a little concerned about the leaves and pine needles in your cleaner.
I brush a few times a day and have the auto cleaner going during the day. Last empty it did not have as much. It is hard when you cannot see the bottom of the pool...lol

7 was after 30 mins of backwash and rinse. It was at 11before backwash which is where the yellow pretty much starts.
