A check valve between the pump and filter is the correct fix.When I clean the cell in the future how can I prevent the DE from going back to my pool through the skimmer when I take off the cell
I would put a 2-way valve between the pump and filter. Close it only when you have to remove the SWCG. I only removed my SWCG once in 2 yrs so it is not something you do routinely if you keep your water chemistry slightly negative on the CSI. Refer to theCould I also place the ball valve before the pump and close it when I need to remove the cell for cleaning
I went back and looked at your equipment pad photo. I see that you have a push/pull backwash valve.
