This is our second pool, but first SWG. Very confident in our contractor. I do wish I had known about TFP beforehand, but I'm confident we will be happy with our new 20×24 vinyl rectangle SWG pool. We are backfilling today and rough electrical tomorrow. Pics to follow when I figure out how to size and post them

Welcome to TFP! You’re here now, it is a great site where pool owners helping pool owners.

Looks like you’re going to have a beautiful pool. Keep sharing pics of your build. I’ll definitely be waiting and watching…

Edit: I forgot to add, what equipment will you be getting? Have all your choices been finalized? If not, ask for recommendations here, many posters and mods are experts and can answer any questions.

My pool builder intends to install a Hayward S244T sand filter and a Hayward Tristar VS 900 pump on my 20×40 33,000 gallon SWG pool. Is this optimal? Adequate?

Thanks!

Assuming your builder only sells Hayward...

Personally, I'd ask a Hayward SwimClear 525 for the filter (Don't go smaller than the 425). It is cartridge. You likely will not have to clean it but once a year. Make sure he plumbs a diverter after the pump, before the filter, to facilitate lowering the water level if needed.

The 900 is ok, but I'd recommend the Hayward Tristar VS 950. It will require 230v service, but will save you money in the long run with lower electrical usage.

There are other good options, outside of Hayward. Does builder only use Hayward?

Ask about 230v service and if you can get it.
Also, post a picture of the contract (redact your name/address and builder)...maybe there is more we can help optimize.

The 900 is 230 volts according to the data plate and spec sheet. The contract basically lists what will be installed at what price. My builder is very flexible and accommodating. The build is well underway. We're almost ready to pour the concrete decking.

What are all the tabs in the shell ? They used standard issue foundation forms for mine.

Also, you need rebar caps so nobody gets impaled if they fall out there. It should be provided by the PB/excavator but it may not be worth dying on that hill for only a few bucks.

Pool looks great! I just realized, you used same builder as me. Empire?? We are finished too, just waiting for our sod to be installed by our landscaper.
Yes indeed. Brooke and Ivan did a great job. Pool School scheduled for Wednesday. Did you post a pool build thread ?

They did. Only issue I have is liner a little wrinkled in a couple spots. They will come back when temps are warmer, along with the water being warmer. Oh, and did you enjoy the music playing while the forms were being put up, and poured???😂. Here's my build

The music was great! 😅 I enjoyed watching the crews work. Fortunately, it was close to 80 degrees when the liner went in and it it is flawless. I began filling the pool immediately, and they ran two shop vacs pulling air from around the liner overnight until the next day when the trim for the skimmers, returns and lights were installed. Overall, I'm very pleased with Empire Pools. Final grade was supposed to be Monday, but it 🌧 rained, so hopefully it'll dry out enough to finish tomorrow.
