Unit is shutting off at 85 degrees after about 15min of running. It will stay off for a few minutes and fire back up. Changed the board because it was unreadable. Threw a HLS error so changed that, the thermistor, and the thermal regulator. Changed the temp sensor too because easy touch was showing wrong temp. That actually fixed that issue. What’s next to try on getting it to stay on?

What’s the set temp of the heater when it’s standalone in pool and spa modes? What’s the set temp of the Easytouch?

Did you test the brew thermal regulator before installing it? To test the thermal regulator, put it in hot water, and it should open at 120F.

I didn't test the new one, I did test the old one and it was not working properly. Guess I just figured it was new and didn't need testing. Probably not a bad idea

Any other symptoms before it shuts down? Classic ball bearing rattling in a can noise?
I just don't notice anything. Ran it again yesterday. Water temp was 47, took about 35 min and it got up to 85 and shut off. 30 sec later it fired up again, ran for a couple of min and shut off. Rinse and repeat. Threw the HLS error again and nothing lit up on the back of the board.

Start there. I’ve seen the clips on the bypass valve sheer off due to age which caused overheating conditions because the valve wedged itself in an unmovable position.
