Tristar XE pump stopped working

Tristar SP3207X10XE pump was making high pitch sound for 4-5 days ago and seemed to stuck in priming mode. Switching to next speed helped manually for 4-5 days. Over this weekend, it stopped working completely. When I turn on, makes clicking sound (1-2 clicks) and does not turn on. I took apart the pump back section and the 4 capacitors seem to look normal (no burns or oozes). I have not measured voltages. Took the pump apart from housing. Impeller is stuck and not spinning.

I want to take apart the impeller to inspect but not sure how. There is a impeller screw on the front but in the back I do not see any kind of screw or shaft to insert screw driver or spanner/wrench to hold motor shaft to turn the impeller screw on the front.

Should I just turn the impeller screw clockwise or should I try to take apart the back of the pump circuit board to access the motor shaft ?

If the motor is dead, what are the suggestions for a replacement motor for this model ?

Does the motor shaft turn freely without friction?

Post a picture of the motor data plate.

Get a firm grip on the impeller and turn the impeller screw to the right (left-hand threaded screw). The slot (may be a hex-drive) to hold the shaft for impeller removal should be under the drive on the back of the motor. If the impeller won't move by hand, very likely the bearings have rusted and are now "stuck" due to a seal leak. That may have been the sound you were hearing.

Was able to get a strap wrench and unscrew impeller. Motor shaft not rotating. Motor data plate is attached. I am assuming the motor is dead.

Is Century EVQ 225 a good replacement motor (would like to reduce noise, if possible) ? Any other motor replacement options ?

My previous setup, I think the motor just started and turned off at a fixed time by using iAqualink and rest of the variable speed programming was on the pump itself.

With the 2.25 you could increase the size of the impeller and run the motor slower to move the same amount of water. If you don't change the impeller, get the EVQ1.65 to save a bit of money. That motor will work very similar to the one that came on the pump. The Aqualink will control it the same way, sending power then the motor's internal programs, which can be changed, will take over.

I was able to replace the Tristar XE 1.65 hp motor with EVQ225 (2.25hp) and upgraded the impeller to 2 hp as well (spx3220c) 2 weeks ago. It works fabulous and drives my Polaris 360 pool vacuum better than my old motor. Also, at lower rpms, is almost whisper quiet. Works with aqualink RS without issues. I did use Kit-80 for new O rings, seal etc.

Just wanted to thank everyone who helped and drop this line here for future searches for this motor replacement from newbies like me !!
