Welcome to TFP.

Hi, when I look in my ICM there is an LED bulb where the new red/black wire is supposed to connect, if I pull out the bulb, will there be a socket to plug in the wire or should I buy a 42002-0007S to replace my control board?

What makes you think a red/black wire connects there?

The Fenwals are different for the MasterTemp old non-connected 5 button heater then the new 6 button connected heater.

What are you doing?

What model MasterTemp do you have?

I need to replace the control board on my 8 year old MasterTemp 400, I don't have the exact model number at the moment, but the board is 4200-0007 Rev L. The display stopped working and have been having intermittent issues losing connection with SFS and other sensors, I cleaned the connections but issues keep popping up. As I looked into replacing the board I found JamesW's very helpful thread that gave detailed instructions on using the new board (476211) on older heaters. When I checked my ICM to make sure I could connect the red/black wire I found that my board has an LED indicator bulb at the location the instructions tell me to plug in the wire.

My first thought was to just buy an older version of the board (4200-0007 Rev L) that matches my current board, but they are $100 more than the 476211.

Before I spent an extra $100 on a board or broke the bulb trying to pull it to check, I thought I'd come on here and ask the experts.

Thank you for your detailed instructions and pics, they have been very helpful. You have 2 pics showing the red/black wire plugged in, when I look at my ICM, there is an LED indicator bulb in the location your pics show the red/black wire, see the pic on my original post. Do I pull the bulb to plug in the wire? I was going to pull the bulb to check but I don't want to risk damaging anything/having to find a replacement bulb.

I can avoid the issue by buying an older style (4200-0007 Rev L) board but they cost $100 more.

You cannot mix the new MasterTemp board with the old ICM.

To use the new parts you need the new board, 6 button membrane keypad, new ICM, wiring harness, and bypass valve kit.
