Hi All,
Two months ago my pool resurfacing was completed. We had some other issues, but generally it worked out. Since that time I suspected I was losing water. Between the extreme heat and rain in Florida during the summer, its very difficult to tell whether you might actually have a leak or not. Finally I did the bucket test and sure enough, I was convinced I was losing water. My pool contractor's immediate reaction was something like...."well we charge XYZ$$ for leak detection." Excuse me? You guys just did my pool and I'm just calling to say, hey can you come take a look? He wanted to charge me??? So I hired Red Rhino, first class operation. They find a hole in the back of the light niche. I've attached the picture here. My question is...has ANYONE EVER seen a hole like this in a light niche? This is stainless steel, and NO ONE has ever opened this up since I've owned the house except for this contractor. It was open the entire time they chipped the pool, and also when he replaced the muddring around the opening of the niche. Of course he's playing dumb. But before I take him to court, I wanted to see if anyone here has ever seen a hole like this before.
Attached is the pool niche photo, and then a zoomed in photo of the hole on the back wall of it. The leak guys patched it, but said, it likely wont last more than a few months.
Thanks all..
