Hello Everyone, I'm hoping someone may have some information on replacing the shaft o rings. We inherited a 50+ yr old concrete pool with a Hayward EC65A. The filter was leaking so we replaced the diaphragm seal. Still leaked so we inspected further and found the inset rings or o rings were bad, well one was missing, one was the wrong size, really tiny, and one was flat and inset but broken, We purchased the o ring kit genuine Hayward part but the rings are round and stop the shaft from being able to go through for the bump handle to move freely. We cannot find o rings that are flat. Has anyone had this issue?

I see what you mean. I'm seeing the same on parts listing online - all are rounded. I wonder if this is just the new Haywards standard now? Does it make any difference if you apply some pool lube to the O-rings? Maybe to help break them in?
Thank you for you response. We have not used lube because once the round rings are in place the shaft will not go into place. It will not go in.

O rings are just that "O" rings because the cross section, if you were to cut one, of the ring is round. There are no "flat" rings for that filter or they wouldn't seal. Just takes some lube and a little more effort to get them to go into place. They will eventually be easier to move as they wear.
