Question, if I backwash my filter for 20 seconds or so till it runs clear, how much powder do I need to put back in? I backwash it when the pressure creeps up, thanks!

BACKWASH 2 minutes; RINSE 20 second; add 7.5lbs of DE.
That's what Hayward says although other DE filters say add 80% of DE on a backwash which would be 6lbs.
Somewhere between 6 and 7.5 lbs of DE should be fine.

If you add the full amount after a backwash, and don't do a teardown and clean periodically, this is what you end up with. A backwash never removes all the old dirt and DE:
