My air temp sensor is mounted on a west facing wall that gets blasted in the summer heat and shows quite a bit higher for the air temp.

You should be able to calibrate the sensor and I found some instructions in this thread:

Hi All,

Has anyone else experienced drastic differences with their thermostat/temp gauge for a Jandy system, to where the air temp reading is showing as 10 degreees difference than other sources? My iPhone says it’s 30 degreees outside, my home/hvac thermostat says it’s 28 degrees outside, and a separate weather station (local sensor) says it’s 32 degrees…all while the iAquaLink says it’s 41…is it really all about positioning? It’s hanging just below the control box, about 4 feet off the ground. Maybe 6 feet away from the filter pump…I have the freeze protect set at 40 (believe that’s as high as it’ll go). Curious of everyone’s thoughts.

Thanks!!
Jim
There is a transformer in the Jandy outdoor panel that is continually on, keeping the system "alive." It generates heat and the air around the panel can be warmer than just a few feet away. Where are the iPhone and HVAC sensors located. My phone tells me it is one temperature, my HVAC "smart" thermostat another, and the news another, all for my "local" area.

My sensor is the same, faces the sun, but over night when things are dark and the sun isn’t out, there’s still a decent difference. Thanks for the help and suggestion.
Unless the air sensor is shielded with something like a Stevenson screen, a sensor directly exposed to the sun will read much higher than air temperature and if it is exposed to the nighttime sky, it will be much lower than air temperature due to sky radiation.

Even nearby concrete that heats up or is colder than air will throw an exposed sensor off.

Most PBs do not bother with putting the air sensor in a location where it will read accurate temperatures.
