Well after 6 months the fill is finally on! The builder will be out to start everything up tomorrow. Not sure exactly what they will do or how long they will do it for but I will find out tomorrow. I’ve got my test kit (2006C) and have been reading and rereading all of the articles. I’ll have questions but I know many of you here have the knowledge to help me keep it a TFP.

I tested my water in the sink and it was

PH 7.8
CH 250
TA 125

Not sure if I should have tested it for anything else.

So I guess from here I’ll wait for them to find out what they do but as for me any suggestions as to what I should do next? I don’t yet have any liquid chlorine or MA. Any suggestions on how much I might need until the swg gets going?

You might use .5-.75 gallons of liquid chlorine a day (that is about 3-4FC of daily consumption), so 4 gallons would likely carry you a week to a week and a half. MA can vary. You might start with 2 gallons and see how much you need. <--these are playing horseshoes and hand grenades. Until you test for a few days, you won't know specifics, but will get you started.

Excellent, thanks for the quick reply

So the pool company is here getting everything going, they showed up at 6am so it was nice they were ready to go first thing. They do the initial balance today and make sure everything is in order. They then comeback at an arranged time and give an orientation and go over everything before coming back to add salt and turn the cell on at 30 days. I will go get LC and MA today when I am done swimming. Should I buy any other chemicals today? Also very rookie question but is it just the Pentair Home app that I should use to control the intellicenter?

I will also test the water later today and post those results.
Appreciate the feedback as usual

Find out if they will leave any chemicals with you to add after the 3rd day. You'll also need stabilizer for the CYA.
Ok, will do. Are there any chemicals I should be wanting him to leave? Also, do you know if it’s the Pentair Home App for controlling the intellicenter? I would think so but I feel like I recall reading about a different one but am not positive.

Anything to save you a few bucks. You will definitely need some liquid chlorine, stabilizer, and muriatic acid. If you can twist their arm for some of those, great.

Let's see if @Jimrahbe can help you with that one.

Ok, great. Wasn’t sure it was anything specific but will do. I know I can buy liquid stabilizer and also the stuff that goes in the sock. If I’m not mistaken the liquid is easier but more expensive, is that correct? I’d probably prefer to just use that unless other downsides are possible.

Totally your call. Besides cost, the only advantage to liquid conditioner is that it should show-up a little faster on the CYA testing.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it. Last question I have for now is should I be treating my pool levels as if I am sanitizing with LC like I am or just get them to swg levels ?

The IntelliCenter2 app or website is used to control the IntelliCenter.

Your IntelliCenter box needs to be on Version 1.064 for the remote controls to work.

Ok thanks, I will get that going

So I’ve got the first test results, well kind of.

FC- couldn’t get anything to register

PH- Read over 8 and took 3 drops to bring down to 7.6. (How do I figure out what my ph
was in that instance?)

TA-125

Ch-225

CYA- non existent

So the pool guy started the pool, poured a gallon of LC in and added pucks to a floater. Not exactly sure if he added anything else. He said the pool is fine and he will be back in the next few days to do a full orientation, and install salt cell and lights. I’m pretty sure he didn’t turn the skimmer on based on the amount of a plastic like substance floating
on top and not going anywhere. Which brings up the next question, is this plaster of some sort? Photo attached

I’m pretty certain I should probably go to the store and get the LC, MA and stabilizer but if someone could clarify I’d appreciate it.
Thanks
