Got Schooled by my Taylor K-2006C - Big thanks to TFP!

FC 2.5 !
CC0
CyA 50! Added more.
Raised SWCG to 35% output.
Heater is on and water temp is high (the lady likes it this way ::)
It has been very sunny here with warmer temps in the mid high 70s.

Turned SWCG down to 30% output cause FC was 12 today. CyA 50 ppm.
Added more CyA (I changed brand and I am hoping that this CyA is better at getting up there in the 70s-80s).

FC 15.5
CC 0.5-1
pH 8.0; added 4 Oz muriatic acid
TA 100
CH 300 added some CaCl
CyA 80!

Temp 86.

Expecting bathers today.

Did we go over the FC needing to be under 10 to make the PH drop test valid ?

(Sorry, a bunch of pages in we have covered some ground and I forget)
Sorry for the slow response. I don't recall the pH drop test. Even last year I was hovering around 7.8 to 8 all season. I ran out of muriatic acid and did not have any to add yesterday.

Today, FC is 10.

Thanks for that Newdude.
That high FC was a surprise to me.
But if you have a minute to guide me to a link addressing this FC with pH interaction, I would read on.

Most excellent. Read on

Also scroll to the bottom of the page and click the TFP Wiki. Go through entry by entry in your spare time. Most anything worth knowing is in there, and maybe even several times more than you want to know about certain topics. Lol. It should be required reading for all.

I understand how doing a 1 to 1 dilution with distilled water (pH 7.0) should drop the chlorine by 50% and make the Phenol red pH reaction more trustworthy. I have distilled water around.
I will remember this lesson.

But then the PH is artificially lowered by the distilled waters PH, so it solves one problem and creates a new one.

I guess you could reverse math it where the tested value of the mixture is halfway to the actual pH.

7.0 (distilled 50%)
7.4 (pH test of mix)
7.8 (actual 50%

Or just let it drop below 10 FC. 2 or 3 days won't ever matter as PH is a long term concern.
