Never close my pool and these very low GA temps caught me off guard. How bad did I mess up?

Last night was the first really cold night and I usually run the pump at night but the automation failed. The lip that keeps this lid on was snapped off from the pressure of the ice.

I know I’ll probably need a new pump (I need a variable one anyway) but I’m at a loss for what to do once this thaws since we are supposed to be back into the 60s in a few days. The latch is broken so the entire pool is just going to drain.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

That’s a good idea, thanks. I’m hoping that the lip that holds the clear lid on didn’t break down low enough for it to not fully seal anymore. It looks like it will be close once I can get it closed again.

Hey everybody knows we get single digits every year. Joking it’s been a weird weather year here in Ga. I am in north Atlanta and my weather app says it was 6 degrees around 5am.
Hopefully it’s just the pump and nothing else

I would plug the returns too. Then the only possible water loss will be from the filter & lines.
Be sure to put something in the skimmer like an empty plastic bottle or some cut up pool noodles so your skimmer doesn’t suffer the same fate as your pump basket.

Or see if Homedepot has 1 1/2” ( if that’s your plumbing size ) plug if you can’t plug the skimmers.
