New Salt Pool No Chlorine Reading

I have a brand new pool and my test says I have zero chlorine. The SWCG is presumably functioning. Do I need to add more salt?

You need a proper test kit to follow TFP protocol. See Test Kits Compared
Add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine each day until you get your test kit.

You use PoolMath
For your 27500 gallon pool, 1 1/2 gallons of 10% liquid chlorine is close to 5 ppm

Highly unlikely with a new pool and fresh water. How long has it been filled?

This is why we avoid pool stores and solely rely upon on our testing -- pool store testing is a joke.

Did you add any chlorine to get your pool started? SWGs are designed to replace the chlorine that burns off each day, but they make chlorine too slowly to start up a pool from scratch. You need to chlorinate with liquid chlorine to get to your desired target then let the SWG maintain it there.

They said it could be caused by lawn treatments and we recently had that done

Yes I added liquid chlorine. The level is good today.
