Is this where I backwash?

Currently when I backwash, the water gushes into my neighbor's backyard, so I want to avoid that! Do I attach the blue hose to the black hose in the bottom of this image to backwash?

I agree, not a great place to send your backwash.

I like your idea to use the blue hose to re-route the water.

Keep in mind that blue hose can kink when initially filled with water, so keep an eye on it when you first start to backwash.

Lay the blue hose out on the ground before turning the pump on.

As mentioned, lay the blue hose out along the ground. If there are any twists in it, you can easily burst the hose. I've busted a few.
