Hey everyone, I have an above ground salt water pool system in place (Hayward). After opening up for the season have realized that after backwashing and rinsing the filter (S180T) that the outlet jet water force reduces after several hours of running and the pressure gauge on the filter starts on 15 and over that time increases to 20. Is this a sign that I need to replace sand in the filter or do I have a larger filter issue at hand.

Do you have a liquid test kit to check your pool's water parameters? That will be a starting point.
Your description sounds like the beginning of algae... which the chlorine from your SWG is just barely keeping at bay.

Your filter is working just like it should. It is just filling with algae, whether you can see it or not.
You have a chemical issue, not a mechanical issue.
I suggest that you read through our Pool School and see what we are all about. Pool School

Thanks for replying! I have a Hayward S180T sand filter. I do have a test kit but just got system running yesterday after having a pump replacement, so not tested yet, will do this afternoon. Knowing the pool is not balanced and still green tinged I’m guessing it is better to get parameters right first then reassess filter performance?

There's your problem right there.
You need to follow the SLAM Process.
What kind of test kit do you have? It must include a FAS-DPD chlorine test.
Thanks for the reply! Test kit does have that so that’s great. Started slamming yesterday after checking pH and CYA levels. Already seeing a performance improvement within 24 hours but will continue to monitor and Slam till I’ve met all criteria
