I am posting my log. I have made a lot of additions today and have not budged my FC. CC is increasing. Am I on the right track? Do I keep adding massive amounts of bleach?

That level of CC is very unusual.

I did test cya. My I could see my CYA at 30 so I know it is low. I am ok with this because last fall it was high and I did a lot of draining and refill. I also did that at opening. I know I need to bring that up. But, last fall I was fighting something right before pool close and I was trying to slam and never got it completely done because I was battling too high of CYA. I figured this slam would be a lot easier with my CYA being so low. Am I missing something? I do think my phosphates are high and I have a phosphate kit being delivered tomorrow. I did just dump in about a half bottle of phosphate remover and I’m hoping that by removing a bunch of phosphates that will stop feeding my algae and using my chlorine. I replaced my weir door today, I’ve scrubbed my filter unit etc. This is the first year I’ve open my pool when it hasn’t been crystal clear when I rolled the cover off

My concern is if the CYA was completely gone, after having CYA when closed, and the resulting high CC being tested, that you are fighting ammonia.

Ok. So I read that. I do not have a test to test for ammonia, but chloramines are obvious. And I am not adding any Cya. I have only added bleach at this point. So…so I keep going? I also have some oxysheen and some super soluable. I have resisted using the oxysheen because I didn’t want a false reading.

Yes. The antidote for ammonia is chlorine, or drain and refill the pool with fresh water.
Do not use any pool store potions.
I’m just really concerned am I reading this correctly that I have to get free chlorine to 10 times combined chlorine? If my combined chlorine is nine there’s no way that’s possible I must be misunderstanding this .

No. Not CC. The level of ammonia in the water. The wild card is you do not know what that is.

CC up to 15 is quite common when cleaning up CYA that turned into ammonia. The reaction that turns chlorine plus ammonia into CC runs very quickly, while the reaction that further breaks down CC runs much more slowly. Since the chlorine is getting used up very quickly in the first reaction, there isn't any left to drive the second reaction. The balance will shift later in the process, and CC will start to come down, but right at first very high CC levels are common.
You don't need to test for Ammonia. Just keep going adding enough LC to get you to 10ppm. The more often you can test and replace the better. The recommendation is every 30 minutes, will go much faster. It will clear the ammonia. When you get an FC test result > 3, 30 minutes after an add, then you can add CYA to get it to 30, and SLAM at 12 until you pass slam.

But I keep adding chlorine and CC keeps increasing but FC isn’t budging much. Look how much I added just 30 minutes ago. I only have a few jugs left. Not sure if I should make about her addition for the evening or call it quits until I know about ammonia

If you have 6ppm Ammonia, it will take 60ppm FC to clear, you don't just add it at one time.. In an 11K gallon pool that would be about 6-7 gallons. If your ammonia is higher, it will take more.
Best thing to do is go get 20 gallons or so. You can always take it back, but you will likely need it if you end up having to slam. Get enough CYA/Stabilizer to get your CYA back to 30 after you clear the Ammonia (have it on hand for when you get to the end of the ammonia process).
Find a period of time 4-8 hours where you can check pool every 30 minutes. Follow the ammonia process...every 1/2 hour. Don't need to understand much more than that...

Thank you. I’ve seen that post. My pool has always been that clear…until now. I’m a bit OCD so this is driving me nuts. And I work. Easy hours so I’m not available to check it or work on it like this until the weekend. So, although I could make further additions this evening, I’m guessing you would not recommend this since I can’t see it through tomorrow. * my previously pretty and very clear pool

NO, just keep going, even if you can't finish!!!! It will just take longer to clear ammonia, not more LC that what is necessary to clear it. No need to leave it until the weekend, do it as you can and keep it up. The sooner you get to it the better to avoid algae or get to slam.

Lc? And it has me adding 165 oz at a time. I only have a Pugh to do this one or two more times tonight.
