Can't find anything wrong looks greatI'll just leave this here![]()
And smoke ring! How do you like that Meater probe?Nice bark!
This was my second cook with it and im leaning to "liking" it. My only complaint is the connectivity. I went with the meater plus, which is suppose to expand your range to 150', but as soon as I go inside maybe 30' away, the connection drops. Outside of that, I really do like the app and data that is visible. Pretty cool to look at temps and how each cook went. And smoke ring! How do you like that Meater probe?
I forgot to take pictures. They were delish and the smokey flavor made them even more so. My wife doesn't like jalapenos -- so I used a yellow bell pepper in hers.Going to make some armadillo eggs on the smoker tonight. We'll see how they turn out.
That’s exactly why I want it. I have the Thermoworks Smoke and it works great, but I hate the wires. Secondly, I’d also like that app to keep better records of cooks. I always seem to find myself wondering what I did the last time I cooked something. That distance issue is a little disappointing though. I thought the Block took care of that, as long as the Block unit stayed close to the grill. It’s then supposed to connect to WiFi so that your app can see data from anywhere. At least that’s what I’ve read and seen on videos.I also like the fact that this is cordless.
Yeah, theoretically thats how it's suppose to work. I have to set the block no more than 10' away from smoker, or I'll get a connection message. Right now I can live with it, but it could always be better. That’s exactly why I want it. I have the Thermoworks Smoke and it works great, but I hate the wires. Check out the Tappecue Touch and their AirProbe2's also. I have had my Tappecue Touch for a while with 4 wired probes but around Christmas they had a sale of the AirProbes and then also had a coupon for buy 2 get 1 free so got a pretty good deal on the probes and they are awesome. As long as the Tappecue has wifi you can be anywhere you get cell coverage and can check status or get alerts on your phone. That’s exactly why I want it. Pretty interesting. The wired Tappeque is very similar to my Thermoworks Smoke, except the Smoke has a small separate wireless monitor instead of sending an alert to your phone. I like that Tappeque also has a fan unit in the event I ever want to add that functionality to my Kamado Joe. Pricing is in the same ball park as Meater Block. If I’m reading correctly, you can get a spreadsheet emailed after each cook instead of an app that gives you cooking data points? If so, that’s a point for Meater, as their app is pretty good, even calculating estimated cook time based on meat temp and cooking temp.Check out the Tappecue Touch and their AirProbe2's also.
Tappecue's app is also pretty good giving you graphs for each probe while in the cook and allowing 2 alerts for each probe or if using a dual probe 2 alert points for each temp of the probe. At the end of a cook when you close the cook out you can either save the cook for later reference in the app and/or have it send you an email with the data points. I will say it looks like the Meater app has better looks and the anticipated complete time is pretty neat.Pretty interesting. For some time now I’ve been going back and forth debating if I’ll use a Blackstone enough to justify the purchase. Got a few discounts at work this last week and finally decided to try one out.
