After owning the pool for just over 4 years it's time for an upgrade. I recently installed a new vinyl liner and removed the puck chlorinator. I'm also just wrapping up a SLAM so my numbers are all over the place but my CYA is 55.
My plan is to pretty much re-plumb the whole thing.
  • Remove old lines for the solar heater that no longer exists
  • Raise all equipment out of the dirt on a new slab (there's more dirt there than usual because I just removed the puck feeder)
  • Upgrade my Hayward c9002 (90sqft) to a C1750/C1900 (175sqft). Cheapest upgrade option I can find, new lid,rod,tube etc.
  • Install SWG System
I'm looking for some help with choosing a SWG. The pool is around 23k gallons and from what I've read that means I shouldn't go for anything rated at less than 40k gallons. I plan on doing the work myself and with some friends (paid with beer and BBQ) and none of us are licensed or official installers, which I know impacts some warranties. The CircuPool models have good ratings and from what I read are DIY friendly. I've been eyeing the CircuPool RJ-45 PLUS and I would love some feedback.

One thing that concerns me is that this thing would be in direct sunlight until the afternoon and being in South Florida I know it can take a toll on even the most rugged equipment.

Thanks for any feedback or recommendations.

I agree. The RJ series is a good choice. They carry a good reputation here, have good vendor support, and have a good warranty. It wouldn't take much, with basic DIY skills, to build small shade structures for the controller and cell.
