Hi all, would I be able to install something like this since I have flex tubing running from my filter to my return jet? Would like to try installing myself but I would rather not have to get into hard piping everything.

Most SWGs ask that you install them with at least 12” of straight pipe before and after the SWG to ensure smooth flow of the water and proper activation of the flow switch. You also want to make sure that the SWG has enough pipe length between it and the wall return so that all of the chlorine gas generated inside the cell is dissolved into the water. With inground pools, that’s typically not and issue because there’s usually very long run lengths buried underground. With an above ground pool you run the risk of installing the SWG too close to the wall return thus creating a short-pipe effect. Undissolved chlorine gas leaving the pool water will result in a strong spike in pH whenever the SWG is running.
So it would be my suggestion that you at least construct the SWG cell manifold out of hard pipe and try to make it something that can easily attach to your flex pipe. That way, if you ever need to pull the SWG out for service or removal (winterization ) then it’s easy to do.

So you think something like flex pipe coming out of the filter, then if I run hard pipe up the height of the pool with the SWCG in the middle and then do a 90 to the pool return that would work?
Diagram for clarity. Blue is the flex, green is PVC, and the pink is the SWCG. Does this seem right?
Actually, reading the description of that SWCG it says it attached directly to the return.

The RJ option solves the issues @JoyfulNoise discussed.
Make sure you can hang the RJ cell directly in your return jet. It must be installed according to the installation directions. You cannot run pipe from the RJ cell output to the pool.

Ok, thanks! Sounds like that's the one I will go with yet. Gonna pick it up today and then make sure I thoroughly go over the intallation instructions before I actually start to touch anything.

If you do go with the -RJ version, then I would consider finding a return jet eyeball that allows you to direct the return flow down towards the bottom of the pool to maximize mixing of the SWG output. I don’t see any substantive differences between those models that would eliminate a short pipe effect. It’s seems those variations only change the way in which the SWG is attached to the plumbing.
