My PB has Covid. Electrician is done. I’m trying to set up the lights. I have a single transformer with 7 SR Smith TREO LED lights and 4 Pentair Magic Stream Laminar Jets. I have the Treo lights all the same color and the magic stream in a matching color. The magic stream are rotating color and the Treo are now stuck on white. The lights are on F2. I can use the app to turn the light off and on under the “lights” tab but can’t change modes or color. I’ve changed the light function to light and intellibright with no results, except more option on the app. How do I get the selectable color and modes to work?

I think your problem is through the IntelliTouch you cannot cycle the power on the lights quick enough, less then 1 second, to change the color…

You sure they installed the RGB model Treo lights and not the white model?

They are RGB lights. I worked with them tonight and got them all the same color tonight. That has been driving me crazy for two weeks. The issue is that they are different colors from the Magic Stream Laminar. I want them to be the same color and have the light features that the Intellitouch has to work. I cannot change the color of the lights with the Intellitouch controller.

Spoke with S.R. Smith today, the manufacturer of the TREO LED light. They do not work with Pentair control equipment. (They use the same setup as Hayward lights with a series of off and on commands) You may turn the lights off and on only. This stinks. I am removing 8 TREO lights and tossing them. 7 Pentair MicroBrite Color lights on order. $2,800....OUCH! If anyone needs some TREO lights, let me know!! On the up side, the Pentair lights are twice as bright.

S,

The Pentair lights also use a series of quick on and off commands to select different colors... Maybe the command sequence is just different???

Thanks,

Jim R.
According to they tech guy at SR Smith Pentair uses electrical pulses to change light color, not off/on.

S,

That is exactly what "Electrical Pulses" are...

Pentair does nothing but turn the relay controlling the light(s) On and Off, very quickly.. On, Off, On, Off for x number of times.. The number of times, or pulses, is what tells the light what to do.

In fact, you can do it by hand with a light switch.. :)

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have a Pentair Intellitouch control system. I have 4 Magic Stream Laminar Jets and 8 LED lights, all on 1 transformer. I am trying to use the built in pre-programmed light colors and color sequences with the lights. Treo said it's impossible and will not work. The engineer at Treo said there are two different systems in the pool world that control lights. They use one and Pentair uses another. I just purchased $2,800 worth of Pentair Microbrite lights to make this work. I would LOVE to return the Microbrites if I can get the others to work. Any ideas?

S,

I looked at the Treo manual and it shows their lights have 8 different modes or colors.. The Pentair lights have 14 different modes or colors..

They are both controlled by turning the power to the light on and off quickly x number of times. But their colors or mode numbers are not at all the same.. As an example.

To turn a Pentair light blue it takes 8 pulses or on/off cycles. To turn a Treo light blue takes 3 pulses or cycles.

One option would be to wire the Treo lights to a separate relay and transformer.. This would allow you to use the IntelliTouch to set the Treo lights to blue, by selecting whatever Pentair code sends out 3 pulses.. Obviously, I have not tried this, but it should work..

You should be able to test this theory by forgetting about what the Pentair lights are doing and just look at the Treo lights.. Tell the IntelliTouch to turn the lights to "Romance Mode" which should send out 3 pulses.. When the Treo lights see 3 pulses they should turn to Blue.. This assumes you are starting from zero.. If the light are already blue, three pulses will change them to amber.. etc...

In any case, you can play with them and see what the IntelliTouch can do...

Personally, I have one white light... I do this because color lights have a life span of about microsecond and a half.. And, after the first few days of playing with them the fun will quickly fad away... :)

Please let us know how things turn out.

Thanks,

Jim R.
