Pentair Filter Lid popping off

The top and the bottom of the filter look completely different.

I suspect that the parts don’t all go to the same model and year.

What parts have been replaced?

What are the part numbers for the parts that have been replaced?

Can you show a picture of the labels indicated by the arrows?

How old is the filter?

What speed are you running the pump?

You should have a pressure gauge and an air relief on the filter.

You should turn the pump maximum speed down to 2,400 rpm or less.

The only thing we have been replacing is the black clamp. No problems with filter. It is the lid keeps blowing.
This picture is how the pool guy put the bolt on and that is the way we try to get it on but ours never looks like this. He will not come at a convenient time to show us how he puts it on like this. We have followed the manual watched videos but the lid still blows off.

The top is a lot older than the bottom.

How long have you been at this property?

When was the pool installed?

We are not running the pool pump because we cannot get the lid on the filter canister properly it blows off.

Are you saying you have cartridge filters? Do you add DE powder to the filter after cleaning it? Take a picture of the label on the filter and post it.

EDIT -- I see you do have a cartridge filter. My apologies.

We are not running the pool because we cannot get the lid from blowing off.

I suspect that you have multiple issues.

Is the pump running at full speed when you turn it on?

If yes, you need to set the maximum speed to 2,400 rpm.

If the pump is running at full speed and you have a clog downstream, the filter pressure will hit 40 psi and pop the lid.

I would remove the salt cell and make sure that it is clean.

The filter O-ring looks like it might be too big/thick.

What is the exact diameter of the O-ring cross section?

Can you show a picture of the filter sticker that has the bar code and the date?

The air release is not installed and plugged. I suspect that is part of the issue.
I think so, too. This appears to be a Pentair CCP240 cartridge filter, not DE. There should be a combination pressure gauge/air release valve at the top. Releasing the air while refilling the filter with water is essential. Unreleased compressed air will blow off the lid.

You need to install a pressure gauge to know what the pressure is.

If you are not getting the top to sit all the way down, then, you can't get the clamp to sit right.

Maybe the O-ring is too big and it makes it difficult to get the top fully seated.

Was the O-ring replaced?

Maybe get a new O-ring to compare it to the existing O-ring to see if it's the right one.

The filter is only 6 years old, but it looks a lot older.

Are you sure that the top has never been replaced?

I would get a new O-ring to see if that help get the top set correctly.

If you are not getting the top fully down over the O-ring, then it won't be secure.

I would set the pump maximum speed to 2,400 rpm.

Check the salt cell to make sure that it is not clogged.

This shows that there are two different O-rings with different cross section diameters.

Maybe the O-ring is the wrong one.

What is the exact diameter of the O-ring cross section/

Has the O-ring been replaced?

Did you have the filter installed or was it already installed when you moved in?

Below shows the expected pressure vs the flow.

If you are getting more than 10 psi, then there is a problem.

You need a pressure gauge to know the pressure.

You need to make sure that the pump is not running at more than 2,400 rpm.
