Use some of the $7k you *didn’t* spend on the new tub.If his price isn't too bad then he gets the job and I will just move on, its only $$.

Electrician will be doing the work on Sat and will come back on Sun once the tub is hear and in place assuming we can get it off the trailer and in place haha.Use some of the $7k you *didn’t* spend on the new tub.![]()
Woot Woot... almost hot tub time!!Electrician will be doing the work on Sat and will come back on Sun once the tub is hear and in place assuming we can get it off the trailer and in place haha.
So its in his hands literally. I did order and pick up the materials tonight.
Not completely sure why you want to do the Bromine thing, seems SO complicated compared to Chlorine.

So if a bromine tub is dosed with chlorine.. and you are putting chlorine in a chlorine tub anyway... whats the point of the bromine?? Seems an extra un-needed step..Bromine isn’t complicated. It is dosed with chlorine just like a chlorine spa. The only downside is no uv stabilization but that doesn’t matter much with a covered spa.
Bromine is ph stable in to the low 8.0 ph's which gives more protection since ph rise is very common given the aggressive turnover and aeration when in use. Chlorine loses its efficiency in the high ph ranges increasing the chance of infection. Combined bromine or broamines are still an effective sanitizer so even the consumed bromine still will kill germs, albeit less efficiently. Bromine is supposed to be more friendly to skin and plesant to eyes and nose, though this is debatable some people will say the opposite. It is just a different sanitizer and if you were against the use of chlorine for some ridiculous reason you could use MPS to convert the sodium bromide to bromine though there's no reason to do this since it is a known skin sensitizer and costs more than chlorine. So if a bromine tub is dosed with chlorine.. and you are putting chlorine in a chlorine tub anyway... whats the point of the bromine?? Essentially yes. The only "needed" extra chemical is a thing of sodium bromide for use during setup of the water. You don't need to use a floater with bromine tabs, it is just convenient if you can't trust the spouse or children to check sanitizer level after use. The bromine tabs are essentially the same as if you used 1 inch trichlor tabs with a chlorine spa. But the bromine tabs bond the chlorine to sodium bromide which means your bromine bank will increase over time instead of CYA with trichlor. This isn't much a deal with splash out and carryout on your swim suits. The basic argument is that bromine is a little easier to do due to the ph range and only having to test for total bromine. When operating though, the work involved with bromine vs chlorine is effectively the same so it's a pick your poison thing. In a hot tub instance bromine isn't the evil chemical it is with pools. So , to me anyway, sounds like a chlorine tub with some extra stuff in it.. I guess I just dont see the need or understand the set up. No biggie I was just trying to understand, and to each there own. Sounds like more chemicals to buy.
That’s pretty good! Drop ph to like 7.4 to lower ta a tiny bit more. Go ahead and put the sodium bromide in and circulate for like 15 minutes! Then add like 2 ounces of 10-12.5% bleach and see where that puts you
alrighty she is 7.4 and still heating. You can use that for now. Try 1 tbsp. I think I used two once when I had that and it was pretty high
Yeah you can put them in there but I would add 1tbsp of that shock first and see what the level is. Then add the floater at like level 3alrighty she is 7.4 and still heating.
Looks like I should put some tabs in the floater at this point and then start testing for bromine at some point
test bromine correctYeah you can put them in there but I would add 1tbsp of that shock first and see what the level is. Then add the floater at like level 3
Yes try 1 tbsp of shock and circulate for a couple minutes and check. You shouldn’tput the cover on when the bromine is over 10, but you can let it run for a little while to burn off some. I’m not going to lie, I’ve put my cover in when I was over 15 ppm because I screwed up how much I added and it was fine just not ideal. Also I use the 10 ml test and multiply by 1.25. It saves a lot of reagent and it gets you close enough. You want to ideally target 4-8 ppm before each use and at least some left over after soak. Once yoU get used to it you will be able to just top the sanitizer off after soaking. For me it’s about 2 tbsp of chlorine to bring it back up.
