Pool Management: What Next?

Ok just found out the Ace $2.99/gal sale was still ON. So went and just loaded up a bit. HD and WalMart both say sold out.

This brings to my next question. My pool had a Jandy SWG PLC1400. I didn't know enough about SWG and perhaps due to my negligence the SwG stopped working.

I was getting error code 171 which I didn't know much. Reading at TFP , most say it's just the flow sensor.

I just finally managed to get it out and look at it. The cell itself looks fair good. I am going to clean it with acid tomorrow.

I am going try with existing sensor but if not should I order just the sensor first or have to get the kit.

Also I am reading the circupool is a better SwG although I have no clue if existing plumbing will work.

Is my best and easiest to just get another Jandy PLC1400? Is hooking it up easy?

Link is the video of the cell and the sensor.

Afraid that's way outside my area of knowledge, and being Jandy, they've unhelpfully mostly locked end users out of the supply and repair chain which forces use of pool stores / builders.

Do not clean a cell with acid unless it absolutely needs it. You will see looking into the cell if it is scaled up. If it is first try and clear off the scale with a strong blast of water and a Popsicle stick.

Everytime you use acid on the cell you etch off the rare earths and reduce the life of the cell.

171 indicates a backboard problem. Let's see what @JamesW says.

The Aquapure 1400 is as good as the Circupool. Either is fine and getting another Aquapure will be an easier drop in installation.

How old is your cell?

Disconnect the flow salinity temp sensor from the front board.

Press and hold the test buttons marked salinity and R-temp.

While still pressing the test buttons press the ‘Salinity’ key (‘C’) on the front cover of the unit.

The LCD should read 2.8 gpl*.

While still holding the two front board test buttons press the ‘Pool Temperature’ key (‘D’).

It should read 75° F or 24° C.

Next, press and hold the board ‘H-Temp’ test button, and at the same time press the ‘Salinity’

key (‘C’) together with the ‘Chlorine Production Rate’ arrow down key (‘A’) on the front cover of the unit.

The LCD should read 91° F or 33° C .

Ok will try these steps. Just started looking into it. Let me see what it says.
