Brand new Circupool sj-45 shuts off after salt and cell lights turn on red

Another UPDATE
So,.. after the very, very salty hot water was poured into the skimmer last night, while the SWG was on, all my lights turned green and it ran for 5 hours then I shut it off. I hooked the timer back up and set it to come in this morning. It again started to generate, but lights turned red and it stopped. I poured a much less salty, but still hot bucket of water,.. no go. I made it much more salty and hot and tried again,.. now it’s running and all the lights are green. ????
I did notice that it isn’t saving my output setting, when it comes on I have to manually push the + button to get it back to 100%. Any brilliant ideas on what is happening?

Have you viewed the diagnostics that are available through the controller menu? It will display real time salinity. Just to see what the cell is seeing versus your test kit.

Mine does not display salinity I’m using the K-1766 that shows 4200, but I have no way of knowing what the cell is seeing. I don’t understand how it continued to run for 5+ hours last night, obviously the temp and salinity in the cell dropped during that time. I’m supposed to get a new flow switch today, is the sensor in the switch or the cell?

I am about to install the RJ 45 . Reading the manual, yes, the flow switch CAN accept either, but it is sent as 220. For 120, you just move the jumpers. Maybe yours as an SJ is different. Also, the manual says that you should have between 6 and 12" of STRAIGHT pipe before the flow switch. (you could put the flow switch AFTER the cell, and cell counts as that straight run I guess.

My flow switch attaches to the control panel. The control panel automatically accepts 110 or 220 without having to change anything. Others have mentioned my flow switch being very close to my pump (I did that in order to fit into my pool shed), I did speak with DSP about it and sent photos and videos of the system running. They feel that it is ok.
I wish I knew more about the sensor. I’m wondering if my 68-70 degree water is just barely too cool. I’m thinking that maybe after I “trip” the sensor with the very warm, very salty water that it doesn’t check again until next time it kicks on??

Mine kicks on at 62 degrees but every one is different on what it "likes" Did you talk to DSP and tell them how your able to get it working?

I spoke with a different guy than I usually speak with, but he was aware of the situation as it appears the whole tech team is trying to figure this out. He asked why I decided to pour hot salty water into my skimmer, so I ratted you out He said he has been there for 16 years and has never heard that tried, and also said he has never had this much trouble getting a new system up an running.

I have never had anyone nor have I tried it... That was a last ditch effort.. I usually have them do the hose trick and it starts working, then I know its to much salt...

Same salt I always use. I calculated with pool math app,.. I have added 280lbs since I opened 6 weeks ago. I opened at 2000ppm, 56 degrees. We did have a lot of rain two times with over flow and backwashing.

I would recommend to try one last thing. Dismount the cell and flip it 180° so that the cord side is where the water goes through first. That may make the difference.

this is an SJ unit so no way to flip the cell

You sure? It looks like just 2 unions to unscrew, turn it around, and tighten them back down, no? Am I missing something else?

JeaniB appears to have a newer model version of the SJ45, designated as SJ45A. This new model now includes an updated control module, a flow sensor, input power auto sensing and a new cell configuration which includes what the manual calls a "sensor tab"

In one of the pictures that JeaniB posted there appears to be a gas/air bubble above this sensor tab. Assuming that the sensor tab is the salinity sensor, could the gas bubble be affecting the salt measurement resulting in a low salt condition?

That’s a pretty good guess I’d say. I wonder if the cell can be tilted just a bit to get the bubble to move to the other side of the cell?

I'm also not completely convinced the elbow before the cell is good. It may be causing too much turbulence.

Or is the cell able to rotate a bit so that sensor isn’t exactly at the top, maybe rotate it down to 1oclock
