Please, help me understand the TFP way and why anyone would want to work on their pool daily?

If clear, doubtful the CC is that high. Unless a lot of non-chlorine shock or sulfamic acid was added to the pool water.

A CYA of 80 is a choice. If the water is crystal clear, and will pass a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test, and the CC is really 0.5 or less, then maintain as is. If you cannot pass a OCLT, or the CC is really higher than 0.5, then drain/refill 50% and follow the SLAM Process
Should I retest and is there anything I should add to the pool now? Pool math says add chlorine and stuff, but I put in two gallons today already before the test. And just a reminder I need to have this thing swimmable for Saturday morning for my son's birthday party.

The other thing I should probably mention is we are in the woods and there is stuff dropping from the trees constantly these days. Just while I had the pool cover open a bunch of stuff fell into the pool.

Also, thanks so much for all your help.

Friendly reminder to stay ‘in range’ daily. You probably won’t go south before Saturday but you might shortly thereafter if you slack.

a couple PPM daily based on your tests and poolmath and you’ll be good to go indefinitely :)

Do I need a jug that marks the different amounts? Or do you guys just go a gallon at a time?

You add what your pool needs. Your pool is big enough to use a 1/4 of the jug, 1/2 of the jug, etc. Do not need to measure to the ounce.

I have a 32 oz measuring cup that I got from the dollar store that I use for muriatic acid and that I used to use for chlorine before I got a SWG. If you're worried about splashing when you're adding from a gallon jug, the smaller measuring cup may make it easier on you.

the method here is science based and once you "get " the basics its really pretty easy. One reason the SWG is SO popular is because it adds chlorine every day while the pumps run. That prevents the up down up down of manual adds or shock treatments.. last year I maybe tested the pool once a month and it was always clear. Get the SWG dialed in and the other chemicals in line and be careful with ANYTHING with CYA and you will be amazed how well this works. Im in TX, due to freeze damage, we lost the pool plumbing for a month, the pool started to get a little cloudy/ almost a hint of green. With the tools here I had the pool clean and clear in 24-36 hours after patching together the pump and getting the filter running ...

That makes no sense with clear pool water. Your FC demand is super high and your CC acts like the pool is a swamp.

Am I doing the test wrong? You said only do 10ml and one scoop instead of two right?
Right. It makes no sense. You added 20 ppm FC with the bleach today. And it is gone. Or the chlorine is very old. And the CC is acting like there are other chemicals being added.

They were pretty dusty bottles when I picked them up at Lowe’s. I tried to order more and they said they were sold out, so I got the last lot and they were hidden. Should I go get the Home Depot brand? HDX?

There is a date code stamped on the bottles. Five digits starting with 20 or 21. Can you find that?
