Solar copper ionizer

Welcome to TFP.

I suggest you read ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

How is copper getting into your water?

Who did those water chemistry tests?

What test kit was used?

How do you chorinate your pool?
I use a solar copper ionizer. I usually put 1 chlorene puck in a floatie per week. Once every 7 to 10 days I shock with about 1/3 cup of glandular chlorine. I use a Taylor testing kit. Yesterday I put a couple cups of muratic acid. Today my readings are: identical except CYA is 60, free and combined chlorine are both at 0.4

I use a copper ionizer. It is supposed to reduce the need of chlorine.

As you are discovering they don’t...

How long have you been using this setup?

The copper can help with keeping algae at bay but it does next to nothing to sanitize the water. So you have to use chlorine, 1ppm chlorine will only last 30-45 minutes before it succumbs to UV degradation. So then you have to add stabilizer (CYA). Now that same 1ppm chlorine is bound with the CYA rendering it useless for sanitation. You must now add enough chlorine to overcome the CYA/ chlorine reaction, then you have a normal chlorine pool with an expensive piece of plastic that does nothing but add metals to your pool. So many people get "pool stored" into believing whatever they say. They just want to sell you something.

More importantly copper accumulates in your pool water and will turn blonde hair green and can stain your pool surfaces. The only way to remove copper from pool water is to drain the pool.
