C-19 Vaccine-I got one

Its my understanding that young children don't have the receptors for the virus to attach to.. so they don't get sick.. and if they don't get sick the virus doesn't replicate on them.. so even though they may carry it, its not enough to be transmissible.. That's the layman's explanation of the last time I read up on it. But it's constantly being updated, so I don't know what the current state of understanding is.

Drug trials are currently underway for children as young as infants.

I'm no doctor, but both of my kids are under 16 and cannot get the vaccine, but they still had COVID. Their symptoms were more mild than my wife and I, so maybe they were less contagious.

Regardless, hopefully everyone who can gets the vaccine and the clinical trials for the under 16 population goes well, and we can move on from COVID.

PS - While the Texas winter storms were awful, it was really good to not think about COVID once for a 3-4 day stretch.

Thanks Chief!...
So far no one in my pod has gotten it.. though people around me have. I just got tested last week and passed. so good for me.... and it looks like our area is pushing to reopen public schools for in house instruction by the first of April ...it depends on where each district is in implementing the process. I am happy they have started sports programs up. My son was in a much better mood after getting out and kicking the ball around with the HS soccer team.. even with a mask. Meanwhile my healthcare provider seems to be having issues with vaccine availability.. I dunno maybe its all of Ca.. but every time I ask I get a bureaucratic non-answer. So I'll just hunker down and wait.
I have a friend that lives in the boonies in Oregon, and he got a call from his local hospital.. "Hey we have extra doses! Do you want one?" "Sure I'll be there in an hour!" "Sorry they expire in 30 min"...Oh well.

I'm so stupid nervous over getting this shot tomorrow. I get so sick from vaccinations. I know it's the right thing to do for everyone including myself. I'm just so nervous about it and the side effects. I know that sounds dumb but it's how I'm feeling right now. I also have had anaphylaxis before due to a peanut allergy. Last time being 2004 which put me on life support for 2 days.

If it helps any, you'll be in good hands and also in a good place to have a reaction. Most other times you would have a reaction to something you would be on your own or in a really inconvenient place.

Casey I KNOW how you are feeling! I was nervous as well and I do not have the reactions you have had! You have every right to feel how you are feeling. Make sure you are right beside the person with the epi pen just in case. Do you have an epi pen for home use?

My spouse got his first dose today (Moderna). No problems. 😃👍

My mother got her second dose (Moderna) this past Saturday. Sunday she felt tired and had a mild fever (99.8), but was fine by Monday. 😃👍

Someday I’ll be able to get mine. At 57 with no special risk factors, I expect I’ll be waiting quite awhile. ☹️

Nothing at all? The comorbality list was 2 miles long. At 44 and relatively fit/healthy i had 2 on the list without even digging deep. High blood pressure and obesity. I'm tall and not a toothpick and people my height are generally toothpicks so im obese. Many people are also who wouldn't consider themselves so.

But they found that 94% of the cases that required hospitalization involved all the underlying conditions. So most states have opened up the availability to anyone with anything. If your Dr can't find a reason, you are healthier than an ox.

I have completed the pfizer treatment. no issues. was a bit sore at injection like everyone always says. first shot I'd say I felt more 'side affects' than the seconds shot. BUT I took the day off, so I was maybe more "in tune" with every little thing that seemed different than a normal day. second shot I was at work the next day. had a very mild headache 18 hours after shot, lasted maybe 6 hours... drank more water and it went away.

all in all, no big deal. I hope everyone goes out and gets one.

My wife had moderna, no issues with her on first shot... she gets second shot soon, Friday I think.

I got the first dose of Pfizer today. I feel ok for now. No real sharp or stinging pain during injection. Arm feels ok. Second dose is on 24th. I went with another CO from work. I hope I'm good to go to work Tomorrow. So far so good.

I'd like to thank the participants of this thread because I was bent on not getting it until I took the time to read this. I decided to do my part for humanity and try to get this Covid under control.

Casey,

Good for you!!! :thumleft:

Often fear can be worse than the actual event, no matter what the event is..

Thanks,

Jim R.
I still have a big fear of the second shot n how I will react to it. I'm actually scared to wake up feeling terrible tomorrow after have this in my body for 12+ hours. I'm not afraid to say it. I'm just being honest. I was such a sickly child after vaccines because my system is so sensitive and I have such an ugly food allergy that will kill me right in front of you with 2 doses of epinephrine on hand. I'm ok right now. I'm just going to not freak myself out over it. I can deal with a tremendous amount of pain. It's just being sick that turn me into a big baby wanting my Mommy.

I got my second Pfizer shot yesterday. First shot was no problems other then arm soreness fir 2 days. Last night I had a fever and chills and real sluggish and tired today. I feel better this afternoon then I did last night.

For me 2nd shot had lots more side effects then first.

My second shot will follow 2 off days. So I'll go to work, be relieved at 0800, get the shot n return to work until 1400 and be off for next 2 days. I wont have to use ADMIN leave except to have the shots administered.

For me it took about 8 hours to begin feeling the effects of the shot. If your experience is like mine you should be ok for that shift as it hits you later in the day.

My provider ran out of both vaccines. All appointments canceled, waitlists created. I was scheduled to get my 2nd dose this Sunday, now it's "don't call us, we'll call you in 7-10 days."

My wife and a friend who had reactions were similar. One day apart, different shots, same hard symptoms to a T.
