Thanks in advance for any responses. I am coming into year 3 using the Superflo VS pump. I can't tell you what a blessing on the electric bills.....but something went wrong early last Summer and of course....Pentair will not warranty......

The LC display has simply disappeared. So, replacing the drive is a possibility, however that's almost the cost of a new pump. Is there an automation product you can purchase that would still allow you to adjust your speeds that might be a less expensive option than a completely new pump and/or drive? It truly is driving with your eyes closed as I'm sure you can imagine.

Thanks again for and responses.......

After reading your link, it looks pretty easy to wire. However, where would you find a set of relays like this that would allow you to see/control the speeds from a seperate interface? Maybe via your phone? Also, it looks like this relay would run from the power supplied from the drive itself rather than an external source. Am I right?

EDIT: Sorry maybe this wasn't clear. Is there a specific product you would recommend that contains these relays and allow me to control speeds via phone or ipad?

Another possible question.....Can the LCD be replaced as a separate component? It looks like it's attached to the circuit board with a small wiring harness. I wasn't sure if those drives can be fixed at component level.

Might read this thread.

You could try one sold for parts only and hope the LCD in the parts only one is good. It’s what I would try first if it was me. Here is one I just randomly found...

Let us know what you find if you take it apart!
I didn't think to do that at first to be honest. Seeing it is a seperate component and not a soldered component is appealing. However the programs still worked all last season and it's kind of an 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' in that respect. Years of a Pentair Sam light and my Fiberworks generator, heater boards...... have me pretty put off by Pentair electronics. It's all failed at one time or another, and never once would they warranty it. If just cleaning that connection fixes the display it would be a blessing but I'll be a little unhappy with myself for not asking you guys sooner. I kind of thought it was just what you get with Pentair. I guess I'll do it while the breaker is off still and not yet open for the season. I'll put her back together and see what I can see.

I have the Pentair VS 342001. I just installed this. It allows me to control it from my phone. It allows for external control of your Pump.

I registered to chime in on this. This is a common issue with these displays.

Mine did not have corrosion, but I swabbed some rubbing alcohol around on the contacts to clean it (even though it looked clean), put it back together and it came alive fully. I've had to do this twice in 3 years. It's been enough to turn me away from Pentair pumps now that I'll be building an entire new pool system for a different house soon. From the looks of the pumps online, they still use this failure prone design and are generally lagging behind Hayward in all their products displays.

Hope it helps.
