Blank canvas in Laughlin, NV.

Oh, Yeah forgot to say why I've been busy for a while.
We were not going to get a new dog until the pool was done, but since I'm taking forever
on my pool building adventure, Santa decided to take things into his own hands.

Here is Miss Luna Blu enjoying her first dip in our pool. hehe

I know this little saga is buried somewhere deep in the TFP archives by now, but I'm gonna keep posting until, well, you know.

*Still need to grout these steps but It's some progress. Again, i don't think it's too bad for someone who has no idea what he's doing.
*Almost on the concrete guys schedule(deck), will be talking to them next week.
*Had a chat with the building inspector and he told me i need to fix my gate (install mesh and relocate latch) and bond the pool water.
Working on it.
Should have a better post in a week.
Happy New Year!!!!!

What did that to your poor fingers?? OUCH!

This thread is YOUR thread. Post to it when you have something to post. The older thread "warning" is more for other people when they find an older thread to let them know they may not get an answer on it.

Looks great for clueless! And blood/blisters. A good project indeed.

this was an amazing read to watch unfold, I want to see it done - you are absolutely amazing for all you did!! im at that age and point in my life where I will always pay someone else to do things I don't want to do lol

Here's some proof that I've been trying to get this thing done - and just not drinking on the job...🍺
With the help of DOG I have been framing out the deck so that the concrete guys will have a easy job to do when they pour.

FYI the 4" border along travertine coping will become a pebble border eventually. Won't order that until after concrete is poured so that I'll be able to match coloring between coping and concrete. The grand scheme is to paint the pavers(outside border and the top caps of the planters) like the border "stones" so they match the pebble border. Should make sense later, 😂.

Concrete guys came out and measured back in November, we decided that instead of only having 5' of deck in the deep end area, we ( meaning, uh...me) would flatten the area out and build a retaining wall in order to utilize what would've been wasted space. Not to mention, no landscaping rocks near water. Had to relocate a tree, reroute sprinklers and conduit and add another deck drain.

in conclusion, 🤣
My major goal is to have deck finished by the end of this month!
That will leave:
Finish laying travertine pavers around firepit ME
Re-stuuco paint planters/walls ME
Install fake grass PROBABLY...ME
Pebble border ME
Misc equipment plumbing ME
plaster! <--- HEY LOOK, NOT ME!!!!

landscaping will be done after, as well as firepit

Another 3 years i may have something...🤪

He is doing a find job snoopavising!

When do you think they will come do the pour?

paint the pavers
Might want to rethink painting them. The paint does not tend to last long and looks pretty bad over time and is almost impossible to get off so you have to keep painting.

You never were one to back down from a big job! It sure looks great!

The good thing about having three pumps, is when one (uh yours truly) goes to bolt them down to the concrete, by the time you get to the last one you've screwed up enough, cussed & bled that the third one is a piece of cake.

DIY tip # 217:
when you drill your holes into the concrete, use the drill bit and "expand" the pump notches inward to give you some extra play when you go to realign the pumps. OR BETTER YET WHY DON'T YOU BOLT THEM DOWN TWO YEARS AGO BEFORE EVERYTHING WAS PUT TOGETHER?!!
